A distinguished older gentleman and a freaky looking young man are sitting near each other on a park bench. The older man keeps staring at the younger man. Finally the younger man asks "Old man, why are you staring at me? This is the latest look. Didn't you ever do anything crazy when you were younger?" The old man replies, "Yes, as a matter of fact I did. When I was in the Navy, we stopped off at some uncharted Pacific island. By the time I got to shore, all the women were taken. Everyone had gone off into the jungle. The only movement on the beach was a chicken. This is too crazy. I can't tell you what I did." The old man said "No, I'm staring at you trying to figure out if you could be my son."

This reminds me a little of some of the photos in National Geographic that I read as a youth. You remember the ones. Bones through the nose, earlobes stretched by enormous rings.

I used to think how wonderful it was that I was born into the civilized world and not some jungle in Borneo or deep Africa.

But I guess I had it wrong. Those people were just ahead of us in the latest fashions.
