Reminds me of the kid in Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School" who had blue spiked hair and wore a football helmet with a plastic missle attached to it. Asked about it, he said "Football is a crypto-fascist metaphor for nuclear war!!!"

This reminds me a little of some of the photos in National Geographic that I read as a youth. You remember the ones. Bones through the nose, earlobes stretched by enormous rings.

I used to think how wonderful it was that I was born into the civilized world and not some jungle in Borneo or deep Africa.

But I guess I had it wrong. Those people were just ahead of us in the latest fashions.

Big difference: The lady's spikes are part of a crown that symbolizes rays of light, as in the Light of Liberty. The spikes are not her hairdo.
