Okay, yes I know the election is months away. Furthermore, I haven't been following the polls in the competetive races. But....

How can the GOP only have a clear advantage in just Georgia, while floundering in NC, SC, and Louisiana?

And someone please explain South Dakota to me. This isn't NY or California where overall liberal states elect several Republicans to the House from less-liberal districts; South Dakota has one district! The same people who voted overwhelmingly for Bush will send this Stephanie Herseth to the House. Who doubts that she will turn out to be as liberal as Daschle? Hell, she'll probably be in the Senate some day just like Daschle.

I hate to sound so pessimistic at such a premature stage, but I just have a bad feeling that Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq will not only cost him the Presidency, but will also throw the House into a virtual tie and give the Senate back to the Democrats, where they will put into place every Ginsberg/Breyer type that Kerry nominates.

I live in the South. I saw John Edwards win election in 1998. Trust me, I know how Dems work in the South. They talk like a moderate, while they either avoid or mislead when it comes to their posistion on social issues. Then once in office they vote against the conservative social values of their constituents. In other words, Bush may very well be responsible for electing a half dozen new John Edwards' to the Senate.

"I hate to sound so pessimistic..." Then please don't be. Good grief! This is the AP talking. These main media types publish everything they can to bring down Bush's polls, then spin the result of their skewed polls, then more media bashing--and on. The Dems ARE NOT going to win the house or senate, period. If for some reason they should, we are totally, utterly down the drain.
So please don't jump on the AP bandwagon--just say no1

In Louisiana, registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans by a huge margin. The Republican Party in this state still hasn't recovered from Reconstruction of the 1870's. As a result, any Democrat who runs a relatively conservative campaign has a reasonable chance of winning a statewide race. The voters may have conservative beliefs, but they'd rather vote for Democrats than Republicans. We're still a generation or so from erasing that tendency.

Another advantage that they have is that at least one House seat is going to open this year. The incumbent was Republican Billy Tauzin, and the Republicans don't have a strong candidate to run in his place.

I still think that many voters are concerned about terrorism, and they know that Democrats really can't be trusted to keep Americans safe. I think those concerns will keep Democrats from making major gains this year.

This is the socialist hanoi john koolaid drinking AP with NO byline to boot.

We've seen no such articles in the Washington Times, News Max, or WND or CNS. Some grumbling about the assault weapons ban, and illegals. We've seen articles in FR about the illegals getting rounded up by the hundreds lately and the new electronic stuff for the borders. GW is addressing the issue with the system and tools he has at hand.

The assault weapons ban will sunset I think. The spending can't be helped when his own party has their hands in the til. Some of it is necessary as it has ties to fixes in some cases.

..while floundering in NC, SC, and Louisiana?

I don't know about us floundering in Louisiana, but in North Carolina there's tons of liberal wishful thinking going on there. Overrating things as usual. I'm not saying it's going to be a cake walk, but the NC picture isn't as rosy as the left thinks.

Would you please inform me of where we're floundering here in South Carolina? I guess I didn't get that memo.

Something the media is ignoring completely is the Democrat's complete divorce with family values and it effect on their Southern voter base. The Democrats are losing people right and left due to their anti values stand. They're sending voters a message that the Dems don't need them. Some are coming over to our side, but many will just stay home come the election. You'll see it's result in November. The media and Democrats will be shocked, I wont.

Democrats live to lie and lie to live- even their dreams are lies.

Their victory or defeat depends entirely upon how many dead people they take to the polls by proxy.

Bush did the right thing. The media has been seeing to it for months now that people think he didn't. Regardless, HE DID! You obviously are falling for the same line those who only listen to the mainstream media have. Rather surprising, actually. The lies of the left are evil.
