Believers in the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence:
Where is Terri's independence?
I'm talking about her independence to learn and to be free from her lonely room.
To kick off Terri's May-June 2004 Dailies, our first article is by Deroy Murdock of Scripps Howard News Service.
Let Terri Schiavo's Parents Restore Her Dignity. May 22, 2004

No time frame was given but I suspect a week or less. Anything re: Terri's a hot potato. It either comes back to deny the Schindlers to join in Schiavo v. Bush or to order Judge Baird to allow them to join. It could go either way. The premise that they have to prove they have an interest in Terri's Law is RIDICULOUS. She's their loved one and the state wants to help murder her! That's clear and convincing imo.
Greer is sitting, waiting to see what the Florida Supremes do with Terri's Law. It will further complicate matters that the 2nd DCA heard the Schindler's Oral Argument. I hope that Terri's being well cared for while all this legal wrangling is occurring.
Thank you so much, Gordon. You don't post often but when you do, it's dynomite!
"Y'all're Welcome" = You all are welcome.
And, thank you for your interest.

Thanks for all you did to bring that to us here, Gordon. As you point out, no other news source has covered that. Special OFF PING to your post and the info below posted by swilhelm and MarMema:
The Legacy of Nazi Medicine -- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1154102/posts -- how eugenics took hold / rationalization.
Tracy Latimer, Disability Rights and the Left -- http://www.canadiandimension.mb.ca/v35/344rm.htm -- another guardian decides that his disabled ward has an unacceptably poor quality of life and would not want to live this way. As MarMema's first link -- http://www.normemma.com/artaleof.htm illustrates, such cases are more comparable to Susan Smith's murder of her two sons which she says was done out of love and compassion, but was rather for her own convenience.
Robert, thanks for all the work you did last fall in cataloguing Terri's threads. It was yet another labor of love and conern done on Terri's behalf. As we descend the path down this slippery slope, it will be left our claw and scuff marks in it.
FR has once again served its purpose to inform. It is good to be here with you all. Good night, FR; good night, Terri.
I'm thinking that once the decision is made, then we'll read also of media presence at the hearing and their observations. iow, this hearing itself was not considered worthy of space, but the decision will be.
In Your hands, O Lord, and help us to help. Bring in others who can also work on Terri's behalf, beyond all Terri's family and friends can ask or imagine.
Wow! Thanks a million! What coverage!
I haven't heard a peep about it up here (NY).
Thanks, cyn! Prayers for Terri and her family.
This morning, a one hour hearing has been scheduled in the Sixth Judicial Circuit to address the Writ of Quo Warranto filed by attorney Pat Anderson on behalf of Bob and Mary Schindler. Michael Schiavo's attorneys have asked that the court dismiss this writ.
The intent of this writ is to compel Michael Schiavo to explain what authority he maintains as guardian of Terri Schindler-Schiavo.
The state of Florida mandates that a guardian file an annual plan of care with the courts prior to the year addressed. However, Michael Schiavo has not done so in a number of years and has petitioned for numerous extensions long past the required filing dates on others. On June 1, 2004, his attorney, Deborah Bushnell, filed notice of plans for 2001 through 2002 and 2002 through 2003. With that, attorneys representing Mr. Schiavo want the writ of Quo Warranto dismissed as moot.
However, as the law mandates such plans to be filed PRIOR to the year addressed, the Schindler family feels that this issue is anything but moot.
Furthermore, Terri recently had 5 teeth extracted. In a faxed notification to the Schindler's attorney, Deborah Bushnell stated that an oral surgeon declared the deterioration of Terri's teeth to be from 'nonuse'. The Schindlers have argued for years in court that Terri has not received proper dental care or hygiene.
Since the extraction of her teeth, no effort has been made to fit Terri with a partial denture or any other appliance to prevent further serious complications. This is a violation of Florida Statute 744.3215 which states that an incapacitated person retains the right to necessary services and rehabilitation.
(FV says: I don't have the time of today's hearing... As soon as I have any other news, I'll post it here. Please ping your Terri pals to this post.) Thanks, FV

Hi. I am on a list that sends me Bible verses every day.
I get two different ones.
Anyway, one of them today was Isaiah 10:1
"Destruction is certain for unjust judges, for those who issue unfair laws."
Awesome, huh! Who says God doesn't comfort the heart when you feel helpless? It seems like every time I have trouble about a particular situation, I get a Bible verse that is matched to it to comfort me.
Awesome!!!!
Thanks, FV! Will watch for news on this hearing.
Florida Supreme Court To Hear 'Terry's Law' Appeal
EMAILED TO ME... POSTED: 4:05 pm EDT June 16, 2004
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The protracted legal battle over the life of a brain-damaged woman whose family and husband disagree over whether she'd want to die or be kept alive will move to the Florida Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court agreed 4-3 Wednesday to hear the case over a law allowing Gov. Jeb Bush to order doctors to continue to feed Terri Schiavo by a tube at her Pinellas County nursing home.
Michael Schiavo has sued Bush, challenging an October law which allowed the governor to order the reinsertion of the feeding tube six days after her husband had it removed. Michael Schiavo contends his 40-year-old wife, who has been in a persistent vegetative state for more than a decade, does not want to be kept alive artificially.
Schiavo's parents say she recognizes them and they contend she would want to be kept alive.
Michael Schiavo is arguing the law is unconstitutional because it violates Terri Schiavo's right to privacy and the separation of powers. The governor has defended his action, saying the law allows for another level of protection for disabled adults, especially in a case where the patient's family is at odds over her wishes.
The state Supreme Court scheduled oral arguments on the case for Aug. 31. It took the case from the 2nd District Court of Appeal in Lakeland, which asked the high court to take up the matter as one of "great public importance (that) has a great effect upon the proper administration of justice throughout the state."
REGARDING THE GUARDIANSHIP HEARING TODAY, which was a sudden hearing regarding whether Michael is fit to be Terri's guardian, Pat Anderson did a superb job. Once I get permission to post a report here from someone who attended same, I'll post it.
That is approximately ONE YEAR FROM THE DAY THAT JUDGE GREER PUT JEB'S REQUEST FOR A GUARDIAN IN "the file".
We are reaching a milestone.
DEFEAT GEORGE GREER. JOIN floriduh voter's ping list.
Is George W. Greer endorsed by Jeb Bush and George W. Bush? Or do they NOT get involved in "local matters"?
