Toast away, Sir. My father fired only one round from his rifle during that war. I am proud of him as well.

Salute to another fallen hero. May God bless him, and may God grant you comfort in your memories, and knowledge of what you are because of your Father.

Our prayers are with you and your dad.

We Shall Keep the Faith

by Moina Michael, November 1918

Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields,
Sleep sweet - to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the Faith
With All who died.

We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders Fields.

And now the Torch and Poppy Red
We wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught;
We'll teach the lesson that ye wrought
In Flanders Fields.

One of my favorite remembrances of the Korean War:

The picture makes me think of the Chosin Reservoir campaign. Thanks to your father for his service.

Can't "raise a glass" right now (at work) but I'll sip a small one in his honor when I get home.
DD- If you get a chance... I know it not the Anniversary, but The Marine was an Irish Marine. Semper Fidelis!

My sympathies on your loss. My father is also a Korean vet; 2nd ID 38th REG. I’ve listened to his stories for years, at least the ones he is able to tell without getting choked up.

May God bless you. I am so sorry.

You have some shoes to fill and you seem to be up to it. God bless you and your dad!

If you get a chance and want an excellent history of the Korean War, read T.R. Fehrenbach, This Kind of War, written in late '50s or early '60s, can't remember which, but by an officer who was there.
