The 2nd least reported story of the week, following the generally ignored or obfuscated revelations about the Sarin IED was the testimony of General John P. Abizaid, USA (Commander US Central Command), Lieutenant General Ricardo S. Sanchez (USA Commander Multi-National Force-Iraq) + Major General Geoffrey D. Miller (USA Deputy Commander for Detainee Operations) before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday, 5/19/2004.
This testimony took place at the same time as the 9/11 Commission was holding hearings in New York but, nonetheless, it was still surprising to see the committee room nearly vacant given all the press handwringing over the stories of Iraqi prisoner abuse. What was important about the revelations which came forth in these hearings is the degree to which the press ignored these hearings because, to do otherwise, would highlight the degree to which they're complict in cohorting with DemoncRAT attacks on the Bush administration and US military.
This hearing featured the top US field generals who were brought all the way to the US to answer charges before blowhard Senators given all the stories appearing in the meida. Yet, time after time, a Senator would read charges from various stories reported in the media and press the Generals for direct, true or false, up or down answers and, time after time, the Generals repeatedly denied the accuracy of the bulk of stories, speculation & assertions which have been reported in the media.
It does not appear a transcript of this hearing is yet available but FReepers and other dilligent folk need to get a copy of it to refute much of what continues in the media today!
For example, this AM, Katie Couric, interviewing Tim Russert, asks how long it will be before we know whether the so-called scandal went up the chain of command, referring to these various articles which have appeared over the past couple weeks. Yet, if Ms. Couric or Mr. Russert had taken the time to view this hearing they would know that all of the articles which have speculated in these regards were presented to the highest ranking US military officials and were repeatedly denied or discredited, UNDER OATH.
Liberals and their counterparts in the media would have us believe they are credible in their questioning in these matters. Yet, now, they can no longer claim such supposed high ground because these honorable men have ALL disclaimed such activities or other actions that the press presumably questions may have happened.
Amongst the areas of liberal / press speculation that can now be laid to rest include those about the memo that was supposedly drafted for use by the Abu Graib prison regarding interrogation preparation techniques because all of the top Generals swore that they were (a) not involved in the preparation of such documents and (b) they were never consulted with regards to granting permission to undertake such activities (which the memo prepared by the MPs at the prison blatantly declared HAD to be undertaken in order to proceed with the suggested activities including those decried by the press)
No more press. No more prisoners. No more problems.
FOX News showed a new poll they had out today and, when asked, "what is the source of problems in Iraq?", the greatest number of people responded, "the press" followed by "Washington DC" (which I inferred to mean the handwringers and liberals) and, then, "Iraq" followed by the liberal bogey-men (with only a few percent each).
Here is a 'must read' Marine HERO story with his picture that you will love! Maybe someone can make a link.

There you go
God bless this hero and keep him safe from harm.
Pray daily for our troops. They need our support.
To these whiners
A Col Jeesup's rant I think it's time for Donald Rumsfeld to have a few words with ABCNBCBCCNNandpress:
"Liberals, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, ABCNBCCBCCNNandpress?
"I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for prisoners at Abu Ghraib and curse the Commander-In-Chief, you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that prisoner intimidation at Abu Ghraib, while tragic, probably saved lives and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives."
"You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at ABCNBCBCCNN you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punch line in a propaganda headline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to TV media who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it.
I would rather you just said "thank you," and you go back to reporting the real news. Otherwise, I suggest that you get off that elitist throne, put down the microphone equipment, push away from the feeding trough, waddle your fat ass outta my sight! Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to." Chicagofarmer
