If the strategy is to do a handover to the UN and bring back the baathis (the latter, IMO, overdue and common sense), then why not have done the sovereginity, UN, debaathis thing last summer?
I think the message of Falluja is clear to all but Americans.
We started an offensive after much bluster and loud words and then stopped. Fair enough and a smart strategy to avoid bloodshed, but not one to intimidate jihadis.
>>You've been vacillating between pessimistic and defeatist on the Iraq situation since day one.
Thanks for following my posts.
Easy? It was going to be a cakewalk(and the Blitzkrieg was) and the Administration has COMPLETELY messed the occupation up.
Shut yer gob, Tony!
Enjoy the Battle for Baghdad, coming to TV screens everywhere soon.
We'd like to hire you to advise the president. We're so impressed with your analysis. The e'ffn, disaster comment was brilliant. We are in awe of your brilliant mind and need more like you on our team.
Sincerely
John Kerry
Hahah! No arguing the merits, just the usual brainless mindless denunciations of DU guy, Kerry Jock etc.
I stand in awe of your arguments.
No one can say that Iraq is not a disaster. Apart from maligning me, I haven't heard squat about why Iraq (apart from Kurdistan) is such a bright shining success of US foreign policy.
It is, isn't it?
The security councel has 15 members. I do believe that those 5 are presently in those 15.
I am only translating though. :)
Make that 3 of course, fat fingers
You would have us sit at home and let the U.N. handle the situation. Like that worked so well.
Lay out your foreign policy outline, and I may gain new respect for you. What would you have done different. Start with September 12th and lay it out for us all.
Would've been far preferable if the US had handled the situation well instead of this imbroglio where we're asking Brahimi and the UN to create a new govt and take it off our hands.
That's it???
Fumigate Pak and Saudi. Not give 'em a pass.
Go after AQ for real and comprehensively, not the current whackamole approach.
Overthrow Saddam via a coup.
Keep Secular Baathis in power.
>>I may gain new respect for you.
As if I care. You're not that important. Vain, perhaps.
Chosen what?
Sides.
Or just can't say it to you.
Iraqis are free and have the hope for creating a future of their own design, one which serves them. That's a better life and a better future than any other Arab nation can claim at this moment. If not then please explain the 2 million immigrants who've come to Iraq to live here in the past year.
Your argument is not only completely wrong, it is without moral basis. It is an outrage to the principle of civil governance and self-determination. You obviously prefer the Saddams, Idi Amins, Castros and Pol Pots of this world. You have no place in civil discourse regarding the lives and welfares of Iraqis.
You probably think Abu Gharib prisoner abuse = Iraq and roadside IEDs = Iraq. I'd say you're about as enlightened as the Mullahs who think Falcon Crest and the Playboy channel = America. Go back to your television god, you're out of your league here.
IRAQ IS NOT A DISASTER
Now prove that I am no one.
Go after AQ for real and comprehensively, not the current whackamole approach.
Mobilize the entire US forces in Pakistan? How do you fumigate Saudi Arabia? What do you do when NK attacks SK and all of your forces are in Pakistan?
Overthrow Saddam via a coup.
That was easy...
Keep Secular Baathis in power.
Use Russian mind readers to tell the spies from the ones that are on our side? Damn, that was way too easy. Why didn't we think of that? I still think you should contact Don Rumsfeld directly, I'm sure he would appreciate your solutions. I'm deadly serious, you should be directing this operation.
He's everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!
