The dems/libs are dribbling this out a bit at a time. So far, they've gotten about 3 solid weeks of play, and it looks like they are trying for 4.
Many call it strategery, but if GWB doesn't get his PR team off their rears and out on the media (airwaves and print), GWB is not going to see a second term. Even Bill Sammons in an interview yesterday said GWB is in PR trouble. Someone needs to wake the WH up. Seeing GWB out fundraising while Washington is in scandal meltdown does not exude confidence in the President. Without countering all these PR problems, they are slowing sinking into peoples' minds.
You are to tuned in on the media thing. Try observing your friends and co-workers and see if this is any importance to them. You will find that it is discussed very little. Those of us who watch the media to much assume the majority of Americans do the same. The truth is just the opposite.
Seriously.
I think the WH strategy is to let the media and the rats beat this to story to death to the point that people just get desensitized to it and then Bush will come in closer to election / debate season and give people confidence again.
That could backfire.
It could also indicate that they have something very good up their sleeves. That meeting with the Congressional Republicans yesterday may be a hint to that.
We'll see.
Then again, at this point, I'm almost hoping Bush loses so that Kerry can completely screw everything up and ensure Republican leadership for the majority of the next generation. But it's tough to reconcile that with the potential loss of American lives in the short term when terrorists realize they have figured out a way to influence our political process.
Point being: I'm this (thumb and forefinger about a millimeter apart) close to just throwing my hands up and not caring anymore.
