BATON ROUGE -- President Bush is making his third trip to the state this year, traveling to Baton Rouge today to deliver the commencement address at Louisiana State University in the morning, followed by a midday private fund-raiser in Metairie. The events are further indication of the state's status as a potential battleground in Bush's campaign against presumptive Democratic challenger John Kerry.

I'm really surprised there was no mention of John Breaux as a running mate and its potential impact on LA's vote.
Breaux has a 2003 NARAL rating of 14. He's a slam dunk for the 'RATS otherwise, but I don't see him getting on the ticket.
Wishful thinking by the liberals.
Nationally, yes, he'd have problems with the babykillers. But the obvious impact of his inclusion in LA - well, I just found it to be a glaring omission in this article.

Bush by at least 5. No chance of a Kerry victory. He's not southern, he's not charismatic, he's not moderate, and he's not said anything that the average Louisianian would approve.
