Army paratroopers accused of beating, taunting and humiliating jounralists detained in Iraq have been given a refresher course on proper handling of detainees, even though an investigation cleared them of abuse, a spokesman said Thursday.
Reuters said three Iraqis working for the news agency were physically abused and forced to put shoes in their mouths during their January 2-5 detention at a military camp.
The news agency decided to make the incident public when the US Military said there was no evidence of abuse after news broke about the mistreatment of Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib prision in Baghdad.
Division spokesman Major Jimmie Cummmings said 82nd Airborne Division commanders 'reinforced the soldiers proper handing of prisoners.'
'Our investigation found no abuse of any kind,' Cummings said. 'This is a closed case.'

"Jounralists"?? The "jounralist" who wrote this must have been to busy spinning the "Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal" angle to bother spell checking.

The media has realized that they are seen as the final arbiters of what is true and what is a lie. So they can make any claim they want, and it will be considered true, even if they made it up out of thin air.

Army paratroopers accused of beating, taunting and humiliating jounralists (sic) detained in Iraq have been given a refresher course on proper handling of detainees, even though an investigation cleared them of abuse, a spokesman said Thursday. A refresher course...that'll teach those paratroopers...
