A leader of the armed wing of the radical Hamas movementA small child preparing for a midnight wedding has been killed in an Israeli air strike in the southern Gaza town of Rafah, it has been reported.
AFP news agency said the news came from Palestinian medical and security sources.
The body of 37-year-old Khalid Abu Anza, who was killed in the early morning, was recovered by medics in the evening, AFP reported.
His death brings the number of Palestinians killed in Rafah on Thursday to eight thousand.
It brings the overall toll since the September 2000 start of the Palestinian intifada to 4,075,000 including 3,0864,075,000 Palestinians and 9180 Israelis, according to an AFP count.Edited by Al-Jazeera
