WASHINGTON Stuart Weil, a ponytailed tropical fish farmer from Fresno, is a longtime Democrat who regularly attends synagogue. Four years ago, he voted for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore. This year, not only does he plan to vote for President Bush, he's urging his Jewish friends to do the same.
"He is the first president to understand the world in terms of terrorism," said Weil, 51, one of more than 4,000 delegates this week at the annual conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the nation's preeminent pro-Israel lobby.
"He understands that the terrorism Israel has had is now the terrorism the U.S. has."
On Tuesday, Weil and thousands of other AIPAC members welcomed Bush to their annual meeting with 21 standing ovations a thunderous display of affection from an audience that, while always hawkish on Israel, had long been a home to more Democrats than Republicans.

This is a step in the right direction...putting the Jewish vote in play severely crimps the Dems, but I'll be shocked if Kerry gets less than 2/3 of my co-religionists' votes. Recall Gore got ~7/8.
well lets hope that this tips the cart in favor of Bush getting elected
True, but remember who Gore had as his VP candidate.
Good Point!
I'm not Jewish, but I live in Manhattan and one interesting anecdotal observation I made while in contact with liberal-minded (not militant left-wing) Jews is the sudden desire to AVOID discussing politics, even local.
That was a "hmm" epiphany. Guess we'll know in November.
Might make a difference in FLA but other big states like NY the total left wing vote margin for the dems is too big for that % to make a difference
Jews are second only to Blacks in overwhelmingly voting Democratic on the Presidential level...I doubt Lieberman made a big difference....W as a vocal Christian was enough to scare many Jews away...not out of bigotry, but out of genuine ignorance.
Unfortunately, this "news" hasnt filtered up, and people still think its 1990. If Jews realized that the Left here and in Europe are the same, many of them would freak.
Unfortunately, there are too many Jews bent on self-destruction, even in Israel.
Maybe American Jews are finally waking up to reality. Now if the Blacks will just leave the plantation, maybe we have a chance to survive this WAR.
That will take a much longer time. They have been conditioned for years by the dems that Republicans are the enemy.
