Amen, brother.
I loved watching Roy Clark play. He played just about every stringed instrument known to man, but he never made it look easy. He'd be picking along with this intense look of concentration on his face and sweat running down. It was awesome.

Barbie Benton was a Hugh Hefner conquest, I believe, before she became a regular on Hee-Haw.

And then he'd look up at you, in the middle of all that firey pickin' & sweatin' and sneak you that little-kid grin ... Great musician, and performer.
Truth be known, some of the greatest musicians of our day would NEVER miss that show if at all humanly possible.

The musicians on Hee-Haw were outstanding. George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Jimmie Dickens, Flatt & Scruggs. Roy Clark, for example, could play any instrument he picked up, and a couple he couldn't, including the piano. I wonder what he's up to these days...

Misty Rowe, as well, I believe.

I hated this show growing up but have been wanting to see it again lately. That and the Dukes of Hazzard and I should be set for at least a good eight to ten years of TV...

I detest Hee Haw. It utterly lacks entertainment value. Ah, c'mon Xena. Lyten up.

They ought to syndicate it, especially the old ones from the 70s, rather than just putting it on video.
That's good stuff.

It began as a country version of Laugh In and was really looked down upon at the time but it outlasted Laugh In by more than two decades. In many ways watching Laugh In today one would expect it to be very dated while I think Hee Haw is much more timeless. I can't say I was a big fan of the show myself but there is no denying its longevity.

Hee Haw, The Osborne Brothers Show, The Jimmy Dean Show, and The Tennessee Ernie Ford Show were Saturday night. After working in a feedlot all day these shows were manna to the eyes and ears. We'd get a big pizza and drink beer till ten at night because we had to be back up at 4am to work the feedlots Sunday Mornings. I didn't know I had it so good.

I would get it just for Grady Nutt. He released some great albums before he was killed in a plane crash.
