Breaking news ... nothing follows

i agree.
I have NO idea who he was or what rock he crawled out from under. But this is the second time in two days I've had to deal with tin hatters like him.
Instead of cheering with us that the intel our President (and the OM of England and Austrailia) used as one of the reasons for invading Iraq turned out to be true after all, they would rather downplay it and stick up for the bad guys who mean to do us harm.
I said this the other day and it rings true where people like Gault are concerned:
Before we EVER hope to defeat the enemies of America who reside beyond our borders, we're going to have to do something about the enemies of this country who reside INSIDE our borders.
Oops...OM should have been PM sometimes my typing goes to pieces when I get agitated! LOL!
Probably they will try. But check out mvpel post #36:
The chemical artillery shell is designed to be stable in normal rough armed-forces handling, and only mix the two components thoroughly when fired from a howitzer and spun at 15,000 RPM by the rifling of the howitzer's barrel.
It takes considerable force to break the barrier between the two components in the shell. This force is provided in normal deployment by the forces accelerating the projectile down the gun tube. The extremely high rate of spin provides the through mixing.
I really can't believe that good-soldier-Achamed is going to take a mallet and screwdriver and accomplish the same feat. Even if he manages to breach the barrier separating the chemicals, he stands the risk of mixing just enough sarin to kill himself and the driver.
The explosive charge carried by the shell is designed to split open the projectile. The shell is intended to be airborne and traveling with considerable velocity to ensure through dispersal of the liquid. It is not likely that a shell exploded, sitting in the back of a truck, would do much more then the "IED" detonated by our EOD personnel at the side of the road (the "dud").
It's seems hard to believe but binary weapons (as well as nuclear explosives) are designed with safety in mind. This is done to insure safe storage and transport as well as to prevent you from killing yourself with your own sword.

The guy has visited one too many conspiracy theory sites and is obviously still firmly entrenched in the cold war.
You can only pity someone who hasn't made it past 1989.
Probably wears the same clothes from then too.
If you say so. I feel a little better for our people over there. I don't think the terrorists have too many artillery pieces at their disposal.
But the fact that there was one in Iraq leads me to believe there will be more found.

Well, that's enough Sarin to kill every nutjob at DU... but if they don't think that's mass destruction...
David Kay to Congress: "We know that terrorists were passing through Iraq. And now we know that there was little control over Iraq's weapons capabilities. I think it shows that Iraq was a very dangerous place. The country had the technology, the ability to produce, and there were terrorist groups passing through the country -- and no central control."
The weapon is a "binary" weapon, which means it combines two non-poisonous chemicals to make Sarin. These chemicals are seperated by a partition in the shell. WHen the shell is fired from the gun, the partition ruptures, letting the chemicals mix during the flight to the target. WHen the shell detonates, it releases a cloud of sarin.
This shell was detonated before the chemicals mixed, resulting in most of the chemicals being dispersed before they could mix. The exposure probably happened only when both chemicals came to rest in the same spot, in isolated areas over the dispersal area. Lucky for us.
somebody be sure to tell Rumsfeld.
Galt got the ZOT.
"It's not a WMD because it didn't detonate correctly"
"Galt got the ZOT."
He did? How did we miss that? I wanted to see him get what he so richly deserved.
Regarding DU response..... I've looked the last 2 days and have not even seen anything about these being found. Sure, they are open voice of all the people. They just surpress bad news. Seen them do it before.
They're probably hpoing that if they just ignore the news about the WMD...it will go away.
Hehehehehe.
My guess, is they have found more than just these 2 we have heard about. Remember the mustard gas was kept secret for a week or so, and the Sarin a couple of days. I suspect we have found small quantities so far. At the right time, Bush will come out and say we have found XX number of WMD's in Iraq. I gotta believe there are some significant quantities still there. Even is Sadam thought he had hid or destroyed them all, someone kept some around. It is a shame how most of the major media are downplaying this. It is the hurdle we have to overcome.
I am glad no one got hurt on this, but unfortunately it is going to take several (or hundreds) to die from one of these WMDs before the media takes notice. It's a shame.
This site hasa plenty who are wrong but never in doubt. You are a refresing poster "in whom there is no guile". :^)
