President Bush spoke Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, decision that ended racially segregated schools.
He greeted the fueling squadron on the way in, and greeted the Air National Guard troops on the way out of the airport at Topeka, Kansas.
I'm just glad we have you to inform us about the polls!
I should be getting "Misunderestimated" in the mail today; what's your review of it?
Hope you're recovering from the surgery, and congratulations on your son's graduation!
I did see a quick blurb about it on MSNBC.
But it makes me crazy too! After all the guff they've given the Pres. because "that's why we went into Iraq" if they were any sort of Americans at all they would be shouting the findings from the rooftops, happy that America had been proven to be justified for going in!
I'm just afraid, like Ohio said, it's going to take major losses to even get anyone to admit they were there--and then they'll spin it so that it's the President's fault.
(hey Truthy, doesn't the press just DRIVE YOU CRAZY???) :-)
I want the Pres. to beat the libs down so bad . . . just to prove, beyond ANY doubt, their lies, their misperceptions, etc. Just to make them look like fools. Of course we already know they're fools, but so even the FRENCH can see they're fools. :-)
I'd love to see Hillary and Teddy crying.
Truthy, give up your hunt for a 'trained' cat. Cats are not trainable! They'll come when you call . . . if they want to. If you're talking about litter box training, I've always found that easy--just fill the litter box and set them in it, and they somehow know. But if you're looking for any other sort of training, forget it.
Cats are wonderful if you're not around a lot. They don't need as much human attention as say, dogs. Cats will come for attention if they want it. They're a lot lower maintenence than dogs. And if you get two cats, they can play with each other if you're not home!
***I didn't think I would ever have a cat again
but he picked me out.***
One of the cats we have now 'adopted' us just two days after our cat of 14 yrs. was put to sleep. My husb. especially did not want another cat; he is the one who felt sorry for Tiger (it was cold outside!) and let him in the house.
***an ENTIRE RACK of Bush Bashing books!***
Whenever I see those bashing books, or Hillary's, I turn them around backwards and/or put a pro-Bush book in front of them. Isn't it kind of scary all the hate in those books? Many even have the word "hate" in the titles.
***What WAS Blix doing over there? ***
Blix was retiring after the weapons search last year in Iraq. I think he was trying to draw it out as long as possible to get as much money, publicity, etc. out of it as it was his last job. If he would have actually FOUND the weapons, his job would have been over. By not finding anything, he thought he could draw it out for months or even years--as had been done in the past.
I'm glad to see you're optimistic about your future, ilovew! You can do anything!
Wait till you read the chapter about the aircraft landing! I had to skip ahead to that and the trip to Baghdad--it's wonderful! I laughed and laughed (my dogs think I'm crazy).
I strongly recommend David Aikman's A Man of Faith: the Spiritual Journey of George W. Bush if you haven't read it.
You can really see how his faith and his character are intertwined, and how it makes him govern wisely, and deal with ALL people in love.
Eric got it for me for Mother's Day (the sweetheart!). It's really fair and positive about the President and a quick read.
I won't be at the State Convention. Where is it held this year?
That's quite a visual!
I have found, to quote Jane Austen, that is a very wise and relieving thing to do.
Also, how *educated* do we really get watching newsies blather without facts or, having some facts, blather with spin? Internet news sites and forums like FR let you sift to find what YOU want to know, without the commercials ;-) and without the disgust factor being ratcheted up. Contrary to what happens much of the time we might spend watching TV "news," we DO get smarter when reading good books.
This afternoon my son's roommate is planning to come over to install my new computer! I'm hoping all goes smoothly so that the shiny (truly shiny, it's got a titanium tower case!) new model will be ready to go when it's time to post the Dose tomorrow.
I got the impression, viewing several of the pictures, that she wanted to give the notice to the world: I don't NEED this man to make me important. I stand on who I am and associating with HIM isn't going to make me one bit better or more important and I'm not falling for this charm thing. The photo where she and the President are walking out of the building was quite telling; she walked ahead of him, not with him. Not even Condi Rice or Donald Rumsfeld does that. She seemed to be intent on making it clear that she was purposed to go before, not with, him. It could be a political ideology thing but even if it is, I think it goes deeper than that. It seems to be personal on more levels than ideological differences. I hope his words melted her at least a little.
She seems to me to be a very self-possessed woman, which is good, but that this is tinged with some bitterness, which is bad. I don't know her story; I don't know how much she may have suffered; but it seems to me that she's got a problem in her heart that isn't pretty when displayed in this way. And it was disrespectful of a President whose being, let alone his office, calls for more respect.
Re the media discounting the WMD's because they are being found piecemeal in small quantities:
What would Uncle Sam do to YOU if you were found in possession of just ONE of those things?
I say that quantity does not count. It's possession of a banned substance, in defiance of the UN decrees, that counts. Otherwise, the media is just applauding Saddam for being so clever at hide and seek.
Do you like garlic? I like to saute' vegetables in garlic salt and butter, especially asparagus tips, but lots of others too.
"my new 17" Viewsonic"
What is a Viewsonic? Details please!
Have you ever had two cats? I try never to be without a cat but find they do so much better when they have a buddy, especially when I have to be away for 8+ hours a day and they live indoors.
How are YOU doing?
