All reports are that Sarin Gas is being used against the troops in Iraq. This is the type of Weapons of Mass Destruction that the President wanted to destroy. This is the reason we went into Iraq to get rid of WMD like Sarin Gas. We need to make a loud and public issue of this. We need to bring WMD back to the forefront of why we went into Iraq. This sarin gas could only be manufactured in a large plant and there have to be more WMD factories somewhere. Let's get really vocal about this and put it in the face of the RATS that have claimed that WMD have not been found. They do exist and this is the latest proof. Let's make the RATS pay with this news!!!

If this indeed proves to be sarin gas after testing, it will vindicate Bush's WMD statements leading up to the war. If not, it will just bring more attention to the issue. Early reports indicated that the two chemicals had no opportunity to mix because it has to be fired from an artillery piece.
Russert just said on Hannity (when asked what he thought of the discovery)...well, the French, Russians, (and I missed who else) all that he had them. What a jerk, that's been true all along. I guess the spin is that the world knew if we find them and Bush lied if we don't find them.
But, God forbid we should make them wear ladies panties on their heads until they tell us.
My take is that Saddam sent the bulk of his WMD supplies to Syria with the plan that it could easily be returned piecemeal, to use against the troops in the event the invasion occurred and the U.S. actually succeeded in overthrowing him. He had to have an ace in the hole (not the hole he was found in), to fall back on if things didn't go the way he had hoped.
First the Bush administration butchers Nick Berg, then they explode sarin gas on our troops. OMG, what next? Maybe they'll attack us on our own soil!! Oh, wait...they already did that on 9/11. </ sarcasm> I sympathize where your urge to crack. I feel pretty close to the breaking point myself.

Nope. Positive confirmation from the Pentagon.
This happened on Saturday. They have identified the sarin and mustard gas from 2 weeks ago.
Both were announced today. General Kimmett made the sarin announcement and the mustard gas announcement came from the White House.
Wouldn't it be great if we got Osama ON 9/11?

Thanks for the confirmation. I really think we need to work to make this more public. The fact that we found WMD should alter the political landscape back into its proper place. I'm not good at how to make things a "meme" or making news "stick" with the public. Can anyone give suggestions on how we can make this an issue? The issue would be how we found WMD but the media is ignoring it to a large extent. That way, when the RATS try to claim that WMD was not found, we can point out that in fact, Sarin and Mustard Gas was found and used on the troops.
Actually, I heard it on the news that it was a positive confirmation. Also I heard General Kimmett's announcement.

It doesn't give specifics about the testing but it does say that it is sarin.

Thanks, but again, what has happened is that initial field tests show sarin, the troops have symptoms consistant with a nerve agent, and the shell casing is consistant. However, we have been duped before. Let's wait for the final lab report.
Also, we need to find others, before going off and shouting all over the world.
Make phone calls to local and national media. Email the same.
Just keep pushing. Often emailing articles will get them to take note.

But there didn't seem to be any doubt all day.
The article from the DOD seemed to say more that the ISG would have to decide if this fit the criteria for stockpiling or if it was one isolated shell.
From everything I heard today, this is not in doubt, but we'll see.
There hasn't been anything that I could find about the mustard gas yet. That information was released by the White House. They've had that stuff for two weeks or so.
The fact that this happened on Saturday and they only announced it today makes this seem real this time.
Like you said, we'll just have to sit back and wait.
Hopefully, they can find out who placed the bomb to start with and that person will lead them to more.
Quantity doesn't matter. Finding one artillery shell filled with sarin is like finding one termite -- you know there have to be more. Anyone who thinks otherwise is invited to think up a plausible scenario for the bad guys manufacturing one and only one such artillery shell.
From what I have read on the mustard gas it was old and stored improperly. It looked like it was buried and forgotten. Not something you want to write home about.
They are saying it could have come from a limited number of 'test' shells manufactured during the Iran/Iraq war.
