Sarin Nerve Agent Found in Iraq
An artillery shell loaded with what is being described as "a Sarin nerve agent" has been found in Iraq by the U.S. military, Fox News Channel is reporting.
CentCom spokesman Gen. Mark Kimmit confirmed Monday that the Sarin-filled shell was discovered on a roadside in Iraq.
"The round had been rigged and was discovered by a U.S. forces convoy," Kimmitt told reporters at a Baghdad press briefing. "A detonation occurred before it could be rendered inoperable. This produced a very small dispersal of agent."
Two U.S. explosives experts were treated for exposure to the gas, Kimmitt said.
The Sarin gas shell is the kind of banned weapon that Saddam Hussein had claimed Iraq destroyed before the first Gulf War.
If this is true, and knowing that this is a homemade bomb out of a real munitions, then find the ones who planted it and you might find more WMD.
Thanks, Tom.
It won't even make top story on tonight's news.
Blix is nixed.
David Kay has been on a couple of times on MSNBC already. Poo-pooing the situation. Old stuff--they did not know what it was-no proof of ongoing programs-yada,yada,yada.
That's right big media/press ... let's not be concerned about how our troops are doing and if the are ok
Let's worry about whether or not the BLEEPING Terrorists are getting a good night's sleep
CNN tried that spin but their National Security reporter, David ENsor said that although they might not have known the shell contained sarin but it still proved that sarin was indeed in Iraq when Saddam said they had none. Mustard gas traces were found last week. It is showing Iraq had a stockpile.
The spin that they didn't know it had sarin just works in another direction. I think David Ensor of CNN will be looking for a new job soon. He's not playing the game according to script.
Gazi George, former nuclear Iraqi scientist, on FoxNews, saying the 'insurrectionists' either know where to WMD have been hidden or they are now bringing them back from, probably, Syria.
"I don't think there is a distinction:
WMD =
Chemical - Sarin"
(Sarin has an antidote now, so it is no longer a WMD, per CNN).
"Biological - Smallpox"
(Smallpox has a vaccine, so it is treatable, no longer a WMD per CNN...)
"Nuclear - Obvious"
(Not so obvious,,if a Nuke kills 100,000 Americans, - their deaths are justified because we put panties on prisoners heads...per CNN)
"All WMD's. Of course this won't stop the MSM from avoiding it..."
Not according to the media...I wonder what's happening with Kobe, or Kerry's daughter in France?
Folks - we're toast!!! 10 million pounds of sarin gas, anthrax, smallpox, etc. would have to be found in one huge stockpile for the US/World media to accept that Hussein had WMD. Even then, we would be accused of planting the stuff. If the stuff were ever released in the US, Bush would be blamed for not acting soon enough...
LOL. He's such a POS.
A nuclear scientist who worked with Saddam was just on FNC and said he has no doubt we'll find the stuff eventually - he knows it's there.
I think it went to Syria, most of it and we saw some of it a few weeks ago show up in that thwarted attack in Jordan.
That's nothing new. If you go to DU they also think we murdered Berg. These people are sick!
I agree. It would have to either have been made post-Gulf War 1991 or imported. For three or four shelf lives to pass would make the stuff ineffective. Unlikely that its imported - if the terrorists are going to import a chemical weapon (and thus lose the Bush-embarrassment factor) - they would probably also import a proper delivery method.
Good for David Ensor!
The "insurgents" (aka TERRORISTS) are getting desperate w/the June handover getting nearer.
The press is just beyond the pale. I can't say the words I'd like to say here or I'll be banned from FR for life.
That prison story was old news two days after it happened, or should have been in a just world.
