"Anybody know why they'd be showing up in droves today?"(knak)

It might have had something to do with the very slim, crescent Moon that was visible last night. I saw it, it was kinda stunning to look at. Just a guess. I didn't catch up yet either to the end of thread. Pakistan has it on their flag. Don't the muslims worship a false moon god?

Anyway, the Moon looked cool last night. Maybe a special prayer gathering?

The crescent moon with the hazy outline still showing behind the dark portion was indeed gorgeous. When I see this shape now though I get the creeps.

I noticed the moon as well last night, not too high above the horizon and a nice crescent.

The moon is very important to Islam (lunar calendar), but they do not worship a moon god. They worship the same "God" as all Abrahamic religions.

There was a new moon on the 18th of May so we are still in the first cycle of the new moon (hence the nice crescent). Rabi al-Thani (the fourth month of the Islamic Calendar) began either Thursday or Friday, depending on the moon. I suppose it is possible that there were celebrations surrounding the beginning of the month? I don't believe there are any major "eids/holiday's" in the current month though.
