Bayonet Brits kill 35 rebels

OUTNUMBERED British soldiers killed 35 Iraqi attackers in the Army’s first bayonet charge since the Falklands War 22 years ago. The fearless Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders stormed rebel positions after being ambushed and pinned down.

Despite being outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds in the hand-to-hand fighting near the city of Amara.

The battle erupted after Land Rovers carrying 20 Argylls came under attack on a highway.

After radioing for back-up, they fixed bayonets and charged at 100 rebels using tactics learned in drills.

When the fighting ended bodies lay all over the highway — and more were floating in a nearby river. Nine rebels were captured.

An Army spokesman said: “This was an intense engagement.”

The last bayonet charge was by the Scots Guards and the Paras against Argentinian positions.

The Argyll's were criticized in the press for "excessive force" in street fighting in Aden, the then Labour gov't restricted their weapons to not much more than standard rifle etc but still sent them against HMG, rockets and so on. Their Colonel resigned in disgust and ran for Parliament (and won). I thought they'd been disbanded/merged into other units but apparently not.

Screw France, and Spain and all the rest of our so called friends.

"They are not soldiers....They are terrorists, thugs and criminals who were given AK-47s by a wannabe Saddam / Khoumeni."

WhatEVER they are, hanging a blade on the end of your rifle and running into five-to-one odds makes someone pretty frea***g special compared to the world at large.

It's a good feeling to know that you have cousins like that!

I'm kinda drawn to the fact that the Moos were most likely dying in extreme pain - no quick headshot kills.

Y'know, the motto of the Argyll and Sutherlands is:

"Sans Peur!"

Without Fear!

The Muslims don't usually fight like this. Person to person. They will get close to the enemy once the enemy is captured. And unarmed. Then they are real brave. /sarcasm off

A bunch of them can kill a man tied up by jumping on him then cutting his head off. Or, they can wear a bomb and get on a bus and blow themselves up. Or kill pregnant women and little girls. Run planes into building, etc.

Here (video - WARNING !!- GRAPHIC)is an example of how brave they are. Cowards.

Very counterintuitive.

Unless you happen to be a Highlander. It's not widely known, but even when the Scots lost to the English they inflicted massive casualties with kill ratios in double digits in some battles. The most effective weapon the English found in fighting Scots were other Scots.

Nonetheless, it is rather amazing that they charged 100 armed men and only got 3 minor wounds while killing 35 enemy. Amazing.

So there were 15 British soldiers against 100 bad guys.

Actually, the article says there were 20 Argylls.

To be fair and realistic, most of these semi-terorists probably had a few hours training, if that.
