I retired as a First Sergeant and can guarantee that if this young Specialist had been in my unit and shot off his mouth like he did in this article he would have been a very unhappy camper while standing on my carpet (and yes I did have a carpet in front of my desk.) Give it a rest, Top. You know as well as I do that all soldiers bitch, moan and complain (Also, it's your right to hand them a toothbrush and come up with some innovative extra training). However, I've found that the most honest answers come from folks who don't know any better.

Come on Top, give snuffles a break. A year at the air conditioned Airport hunting down pay discrepancies is enough to break anyone. Think of the horrors he's endured. Sticky keyboard keys, small monitor, walking way down the hall for coffee, dirty dusty field troops coming in with their muddy boots, smelling like goats and interrupting his online surfing.

I rarely criticize those who have/had boots on the ground, but some of this whiny crap is just so over the top....
Lots of civilians may not know any better, but few veterans can be fooled by this kind of whiny, "Mommy I want to come home now", crap.
I hope his NCOIC has noted his words, and denies the lad the opportunity to reenlist.Perhaps an early general discharge, under honorable conditions.LOL!
To civilians, that may seem like giving him what he wants, but to any veteran, it means something entirely different.
And chances are the lad will meet a lot of veterans in his future.
