What kind of trouble?

There's a thread on it...
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and one of his top aides authorized the expansion of a secret program that permitted harsh interrogations of detained members of Al Qaeda, allowing these methods to be used against prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, according to an article in The New Yorker. The article, by Seymour M. Hersh

In a time of war, a war where an enemy seeks out and targets civilians, killing indiscriminately for fanatical religious reasons, an enemy that wears no uniform nor belongs to no nation's military, what do the liberals expect should be the correct treatment of these enemeis when captured? Do they realize those captured may have information about future attacks, attacks targeting innocents?

I mean, of all the issues confronting us, can't they see we're dealing with criminals and thugs, not enemy soldiers?

This is all and only about "getting" Bush. If a democrat president employed these tactics, these same critics would have nothing but praise for it. They'd use my reasoning above. Getting an abortion, marrying their same-sex partners, and demonizing Republicans are far more important causes then preventing murder from terrorsits.

Well, Peter Jennings kicked off this talking point on Thursday, I believe it was. I posted right away about how he took to separate issues and tried to twist them together.

It is not trouble for Rumsfeld since one has nothing to do with the other.

Since the perverted guards situation is an aberration and isolated it demonstrates policy did not influence their behavior. That is the obvious fact and truth and the media clymers can twist and spin until the cows come home, but they cannot make up down and down up.

BTW, Tim Russert is a clymer extraordinaire. I'm reading this thread to see if others commented on what I saw. I avoided his show this morning as he's become a transparent DNC shill, however when Fox News Sunday (which airs here at the same time) ended an interview with Colin Powell and brought on Carl Levin I did switch back to MTP in time to see and hear Timmy wrap up HIS interview with Powell.

Timmy imagines he's witnessing and covering Watergate redux and intoned solemnly (what an ASS) to the camera that he appreciated the Secretary giving an uneditied interview and he thanked him for it "despite", the potato says seriously, his press secretary trying to stop him whilst Timmy was asking his last question.

So, let me get this straight: Powell gives an unedited interview and Clymer Russert still tries to convey a cover-up was afoot.

I despise him. The obvious answer is the press secretary was indicating a schedule/time issue and it was time to wrap up. It looks to me that Powell is appearing on 3 or 4 programs.

I had chosen Fox over MTP because Russert has been losing my respect the last few months with his obvious desire to "get" the Bush administration, facts and reason be damned. Today he demonstrated my perception was 100% correct.
