1970's songbird Linda Ronstadt, best known for her torch song-style and mellow ballads, is working overtime these days trying to persuade her fellow Arizonans that it's time to dump President Bush "right away."
In an interview broadcast on Saturday, Ronstadt was in the middle of explaining to WABC Radio's Mark Simone why she prefers living in Arizona to Los Angeles or New York, when she added one caveat.
"The politics are very conservative here and I'm not conservative. I'm having a hard time sometimes convincing people that we need to vote for a new president," she offered.
When Simone begged to differ, the singer insisted, "We need a different president right away, I think. I think we should impeach this one [rather than wait for] the next election."
Asked if she could support Sen. John Kerry despite his admission that he committed war crimes in Vietnam, Ronstadt told Simone, "I don't know about that? He might be a little more understanding of what these guys [U.S. GIs in Iraq] are going through."
She's a great singer, product of the 60's, do you really expect anything else? She's one of the few people I plan on paying to go hear sing. Just bring back too many good memories of my childhood.
A beautiful woman with a great voice...and a bad sense of politics.
Whoa, I agree.
I always thought she was quite beautiful.
I think we're all guilty of having put on a few extra pounds...but she's has really gone overboard!
This is what my dad used to say --- "you don't look at the girl, you lood at the girl's mother because that's what you're going to have in 20 years".
Note to nitwit: if the president is impeached, the VP becomes president.
This thread is screaming out for one of your remakes . . .
Poor Pitiful Me
Who resurrected that ol' has-been hag. Somebody needs to tell her to shut her surgically altered mouth.
You could make quite a bit of Soylent Green out of Linda.
Has anyone seen Jerry Brown lately? Maybe she ate him.
I thought she was pretty cute at one time. In 1974 I went to see her at the Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee - when she was on tour supporting the "Heart Like a Wheel" album. Maybe I was sitting too far away, maybe it was the lighting, I dunno - but she seemed very attractive. The moment that burst the bubble for me was her appearance at an inaugural gala for Jimmy Carter in January 1977 at the Kennedy center. It was not that fact that she was performing for Carter, I mean John Wayne appeared at the same gala. It was the lighting, which was not well thought out - and the harsh high angle lighting - which highlighted her pock marked face and really awful complexion.
It all went poof at that moment and I haven't bough any of her stuff since. Now she proves herself to be a nitwit as well. Sigh.
Someone out to have Linda checked for insanity.
Ops4 God Bless America!
She has done so much coke she doesn't know which way is up!
When an entertainer ceases to be entertaining and becomes
what they are not it is time to sing and act--"By the
rivers of Babylon. ..Happy shall he be that dasheth thy
little ones against the stones." Oh but being civilized and
Oprafied your little ones will be your records and music.
Your politics has soured the music you once made.
I thought she was Mescan.
LOL....you don't ask for much,do you? :o)
Nobody will be another Patsy Cline.
