Man charged with chasing men with chain saw

WINST0N-SALEM — A man was charged with terrorizing the public after chasing men into a grocery store with a chain saw, police said.
About 7:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Stanleyville Grocery at 3990 Patterson regarding a report of a man with a gun, Winston-Salem police said.
The investigation revealed Darrell Alson Steed and Michael Steven Allen, both white, had been involved in threatening four African-Americans with a chain saw, police said.
Steed began using racial slurs while threatening to kill the victims, police said. He then obtained a chain saw from his car and started it as he was making the threats, police said.
Steed then chased the men into the store with the chain saw, police said.
Allen encouraged Steed to assault the men with the chain saw, police said.
Steed, 21, of 2540 Seven Oak Drive, Linwood, was arrested on charges including going armed to the terror of the public, ethnic intimidation, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and communicating threats.
Steed was also charged with being intoxicated and disruptive, simple assault and attempted breaking and entering. He was placed in the Forsyth County jail under a $100,000 secured bond, police said.
Allen, 22, of 578 Hilltop Road in Lexington, was charged with aiding and abetting assault with a deadly weapon and was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond, police said.
When this this law get passed - and how many other versions of intimidation are there? Male intimidation, female intimidation, animal intimidation - it could go on forever...
Maybe it was a slow day and he was just drumming up some business.

I personally would not chase men who had chain saws at the ready.
