Many hundreds of innocent Christians have died in Kano since a Muslim protest turned into carnage in retaliation for Muslim deaths hundreds of miles away in Yelwe.
Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) say some 600 Christians have been killed so far this week in Kano, Nigerias second-largest city. Andrew Ubah, the general secretary of the association in Kano, told Reuters on Thursday 13 May that he was keeping a tally based on reports from church leaders throughout the city. Almost 600 people have been killed and 12 churches burned, he said.
David Emmanuel, a factory worker told Reuters he saw two truckloads of corpses on Wednesday night, and he counted at least 30 bodies in the street. Elsewhere, correspondents have seen 35 mostly burned and mutilated bodies.
The official police tally of 30 that remains more or less static from Wednesday night is belied by the overflowing morgue and the constant stream of eye-witness reports from all quarters of the city. Bodies were being discovered on Thursday and because the main hospital mortuary was full were taken to undisclosed locations, according to the Red Cross. Not all cases are reported, especially cases in which relatives have already buried their dead, said Aminu Inua, a Red Cross official in Kano.
Hundreds of people were killed, said Christian leader Mark Amani. Some corpses were burned in wells. Even little children were killed. The bodies of pregnant women were ripped open and their bodies burned, he said.
Sources report the killing of several hundred people when defiant mobs of Muslim youths armed with clubs and machetes and cutlasses rampaged at about 1 a.m. on Thursday despite a police imposed curfew. Mobs went from house to house looking for Christian victims and in some cases trapped the occupants inside and torched the houses. Police have been issued orders to shoot armed rioters on sight. While Muslims have complained that the police have killed innocent civilians as a result, they do not mean the scores of hacked bodies that lie in the streets and in charred buildings and vehicles according to residents.
There are fears that the number of deaths may continue to grow since an order was circulated by Umar Ibrahim Kabo, the most senior Mulim cleric in Kano, for all Christians to leave the area by today, Friday 14 May. More than 30,000 residents, mostly Christians, have been driven from their homes in Kano officials said on Thursday, a figure confirmed by Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon in a telephone conversation with Barnabas Fund.
Barnabas Fund wishes to announce an urgent appeal to support the survivors, those displaced from their homes and the families of Christian victims in Kano. You can make a donation to help the pastors, their families and their churches through a Barnabas Fund office or via our website donation page http://www.barnabasfund.org/donations.htm. Remember to specify Project 39-500.

Obviously all Christians should own weapons to fight back. Islamics do real poor against armed men, they prefer unarmed women and children.
Nothing spoils a head chopping spree like an intended victim with a pistol.
Your petro-dollars at work. You did not believe the media when it said the Jews control the media did you?
But the Police fired into the air... Hmmm. Looks like the problem is obvious, the police are on the Saudi Payroll.
The world may ignore this...but God doesn't. How sad. I've always tried to imagine the sheer strengh it would take to stick by your faith to the point of a horrible death. My imagination is not that big.
These people who died were Christians. I am a Christian and I consider them to be my brothers and sisters in the Lord. I do have a sense of humor its just that this story was/is incredibly painful to read and learn about. I think it deserved a respectful response.
To die is gain, we should mourn at a birth and rejoice at a death. Some peoples sense of humor is just different....just thank God they have one, regardless of where you think it should be applied.
Thank you rimtop56!
May God free the lost but honest souls among those deceived by the false religion of demons known as Islam, and may He be with my brothers and sisters in Nigeria. Let them see: the deaths of the children of God are never in vain. For one, because those children are now in the glorious presence of the Lord our God, and for two, because God has shown Himself perfectly able to take the tragedy of a Christian's death and turn it into an opportunity to lead other lost souls to the salvation of Jesus Christ. People long to belong to something, or in this case SomeOne, worth dying for. They will be drawn to the cause of Christ out of admiration and sympathy for the Christians they see suffering everyday if the Christians suffer courageously and not with bitterness and hatred in their hearts. May God give much strength to those who will be martyred for the cause of Christ that they may lift their eyes to God and pray, even in the moment of their death, that God will forgive the enemies that harm them as the Lord Jesus Christ did and as his faithful servant and martyr Stephen did afterwards. In this way many among the weak and faltering, the bystanders, and even among the murdering Muslim hordes will be struck by the goodness of God shown in His servants and will be drawn to Him. And God will conquer Islam as He has and will all other religions.
Praise be to God forever!
As far as the U. S. media is concerned, Christian deaths is considered just fine. But what ever you do don't embarras a Islamofascist.
I agree that to die is to gain and I don't mourn that they are now in heaven. That is not what the disagreement is about. My heart was/is heavy at the brutality of those savages and that others will die at their hands. It is a very serious situation as you may well know. I found the coarse jesting to be in bad taste on this thread. It started out as a harmless post about a dream and another turned it into an opportunity to flex their humor. The thread then became more about them than the article. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the Bible speaks against coase joking as it can indicate a lack of compassion to brutality.
I think this argument is more about pride. In the real world of grown ups, people who offend with their coaseness, even if unknowingly; try to be gracious and make attempts not to do so anylonger. After all, that is one of the differences between liberals and conservatives.
I've had my say and I'll stay out of it from here.

people who offend with their coaseness
To be honest, I don't think some people realize it when they are being course. Some personalities are just abrasive. I have found the very soft spoken, I wouldn't hurt a fly type people are the cruelest when you get them angry. And I must admit...I do like to push some buttons simply so I can see the true nature of that person and not just what they want me to see. I raised Dobermans and one of the tests to check the stability of their minds was to have someone hold them and then let someone else just smack at them till they are furious. Then change tactics and see if they can come down off that rage. If they can't don't breed them, don't own them, they are not mentally stable. I have noticed quite a few of the two legged species run along that same line. People show you what they want you to see and not always what is there. There is no greater format for that than the internet, they can be anything they want. I wouldn't take things to seriously. There is SO much coming at everyone that is so horrible lately, sometimes the mind just needs a break. From most I have met in FR, they fight like Tigers and can be very rude but over all I think the hearts of people here want to do what they know is right, and pushed into a corner I think they will. I still have faith, hope and love in people. Maybe I am just a fool. :)
"the carnage will only stop when Islam dissapears."
Yup.
"Islam is the problem."
And we ignore that at our peril.
"The scary thing is that they ALL do it. It's like they have no souls."
They don't. They sold them to the moon-god cult.
WTF is the UN? Oh, the same thing occured in Africa and they were too busy handling the Fool for Fuel contracts in Iraq.
yes we do.
They don't. They sold them to the moon-god cult.
I knew they sold them, but I didn't know which deity it was. I guess Satan by any other name is still Satan. It just blows my mind that all of them are so deceived.
"yes we do."
Prove it.
