KERRY’S PATTERN OF FUNDING DECEPTION
Pledged To Support Funding For Our Troops, But Didn’t.  He Says He Will This Time.  But Will He?
______________________________________________________

PROMISED HE’D VOTE FOR $87 BILLION FOR TROOPS …

Kerry Said He Would Vote For “Whatever … It Takes To Win.”  NBC’S TIM RUSSERT: “Do you believe that we should reduce funding that we are now providing for the operation in Iraq?”  SEN. JOHN KERRY: “No. I think we should increase it.”  RUSSERT: “Increase funding?”  KERRY: “Yes.”  RUSSERT: “By how much?”  KERRY: “By whatever number of billions of dollars it takes to win. It is critical that the United States of America be successful in Iraq, Tim.”  (NBC’s “Meet The Press,” 8/31/03)

SAYS NO U.S. SENATOR WOULD VOTE NO

Even Ridiculed Vote Against $87 Billion As “Irresponsible.”  SEN. JOHN KERRY: “Well, Senator Biden and I are introducing a effort to try to link the $87 billion to the reduction of the Bush tax cut at the high end, and we’re doing that as a matter of shared sacrifice. …”  DOYLE McMANUS: “And if … that amendment does not pass, will you then vote against the $87 billion?”  KERRY: “I don’t think any United States senator is going to abandon our troops and recklessly leave Iraq to whatever follows as a result of simply cutting and running. That’s irresponsible. … There’s a way to do this properly. But I don’t think anyone in the Congress is going to not give our troops ammunition, not give our troops the ability to be able to defend themselves. We’re not going to cut and run and not do the job. Look, we could – we could do this job over a period of time at greater loss, at greater risk, and with much loss around the world with respect to the United States. The question is will we do this the best way possible so that we do the best to protect our troops and the best to advance the safety and security of the United States?”  (CBS’ “Face The Nation,” 9/14/03)

THEN HE VOTED NO!

On October 17, 2003, Candidate Kerry Voted Against Senate Passage Of Iraq/Afghanistan Reconstruction Package.  (S. 1689, CQ Vote #400: Passed 87-12: R 50-0; D 37-11; I 0-1, 10/17/03, Kerry Voted Nay)

NOW SAYS HE’LL VOTE FOR $25 BILLION FOR OUR TROOPS

First, Kerry Says He Would Vote For Funding.  “I will support the Administration’s request for emergency funds for our troops. … This money is urgently needed, and it is completely focused on the needs of our troops. We must give our troops the equipment and support to carry out their missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.”  (John Kerry For President, “Statement From John Kerry On The Administration’s Request For $25 Billion In Emergency Funding To Support The Troops,” Press Release, 5/13/04)

SAYS “NOBODY IS GOING TO LEAVE THE TROOPS”

But Wants To See The Plan.  FOX NEWS’ ALAN COLMES: “You say now you’re going to support $25 billion of emergency spending. Well, like the $87 billion in the past, will you wait to see how that’s going to be funded before you put your final stamp on …”  SEN. JOHN KERRY: “Yes, I will obviously. Nobody’s going to – if this money is legitimately urgent for the troops, nobody’s going to leave the troops without the things that we need right now. But I want to see exactly what the plan is, and I want to see exactly where the money is going, and how much is, in reality, needed. But I’m obviously supportive of the troops, as are every other American.”  (Fox News’ “Hannity & Colmes,” 5/13/04)

HOW WILL HE VOTE THIS TIME? Well, he is for it, so he will probably vote against it.

It really doesn't matter how he votes, he'll look like an idiot either way.

One can hope he misses the vote! That'll be great if he does. Hopefully, Frist will schedule the vote on a day Kerry is far out West!
