Before you get your panties in a wad about "security during wartime", try explaining exactly what threat the people with dissenting opinions hold that those allowed to stand along the president's route (as clearly shown in the picture) do not.

Get over it. Presidents cause disruptions where ever they travel. Republicans AND Democrats.

Having ones panties in a wad beats the horrifying possibility of having panties on ones head any day of the week.

At least there were no union thugs beating the crap out of protesters, which is what happened when the trailer trash moved around the country.

Let me give you a little perspective, from Real life.

The gym I workout in, in Midtown Manhattan, is right at the nexus of a Presidential/VP entery exit zone, and it was ROUTINELY cordoned off, at 5:30 in the AM, for extended amounts of time, for x42, and his would be, but thankfully not successor, about every 4 weeks, in 2000.

Thats not even protestors thats people going to their F*ng jobs.

thats life.

Idiot writer. What town or area DOESN'T have the utmost concern for security when a high ranking dignitary is there?

I was visiting Kentucky in November of 1996, when the former occupant of the WH, x42, was in town. I actually saw Air Force One on the tarmac. It was suggested that we get my luggage and get out of the area before the motorcade returns, and the Secret Service shut down the roads.

Typical liberal writer with his head up his medieval arse, who hates America but is glad to live here, and in this time, because if he lived in those medieval times, if the king didn't like you, he had you killed.

Go sell crazy someplace else. We're all stocked up here.

I see nothing here that did not take place during Clinton. When SlickWilly went to sporting events, you had to show up 2 hours early or get in late. Freeom to not have hecklers shout you down was also employed by Bill. It's the sameol' sameol'.

Great Article.
"If they're going to call it a presidential visit, then it should be a presidential visit - where we can hear from him and he can hear from us. But that's not what happened here, not at all."
Uh, was the President in town? So he was visiting? How is it NOT a Presidential visit then?

Typical Bush-hater hypocrisy. I'm sure things went like clockwork when Clinton travelled. Yes, sir. An asinine point.

This writer and his "imperial subjects" should be stacked naked in a pyramid, with liberal feminist environmentalists panties stuck on their heads. What a royal a-hole.

The people along the route don't want him dead. BTW, the "King" traveled to Bethesda, MD on Wednesday and took Marine One, rather than his limo, which would have tied up early afternoon traffic on busy Wisconsin Avenue. He's not a king, he's considerate.

I'm sure you've forgotten Clinton's tying up Los Angeles International for an hour while he got a haircut on Air Force One.

Presidents cause disruptions.

The references to "royalty" in the article are disgusting and insulting.

All right, look.

A few years ago, Al Gore visited my daughter's school.

Between the cops and his motercade and the Secret Service, it bound up our little town for hours.

( Not that Security was on it's game that day.. I worked at the school at the time, but because I'm tiny I wandered right past the check-point. They thought I was just another kid depsite my pectoral developement. Idiots. I didn't know Gore was even in the school til I got into the office)

When Presidents and Vice Presidents travel, things get shut down because they must.

I've looked at your profile. You state that "we are no longer a free country".

How so?

I don't get visited by a Block Captain. I'm not required to go to " political meetings" . Nobody has offered me an incentive to rat out my neighbors. The Men in Black have not visited my husband at ork. Nobody has messed with our bank-account. Unless I travel by air, I don't even get asked to show a photo ID. No one is bugging my phone. ( I know how to check) No one is sidling up to my daughter and asking her about how I vote. There is no curfew. I get to live where I want, work where I want, send my daughter to school where I want.

I do what I want, when I want.

What is YOUR problem?

Hate to burst your bubble, sweetie, but the Dems did the same thing 30 years ago when my mother protested ....Carter, I do believe?... coming to our town. She and her friends were forced to stand behind a fence, and not only that, but his supporters were bused (bussed?) in from out of town so there were more.

What about the women in FL whose sign "My abortion hurt me" was ripped apart at a Kerry rally?

If you think this is a new "Bush" thing, you'd best think again.

And why do we hear about anti-Bush protesters having their rights "trampled" but not similar incidents on the other side?

See tagline.

It happens under Republicans and Democrats.

The problem is that the SS knows it cannot really protect the President from a determined assassin, so they want to create a record 'for the file' of how hard they have tried, just in case.

It is all CYA nonsense.
