I sense a big story coming out of this, and a lot of Freepers ain't gonna like it. I had two freepers private email telling me to drop my inquiry...what I might find I wouldn't like. Perhaps...
This thing definitley has the potential to explode one way or the other.

I'm hoping he was working for our side.

I dont know what to think about this anymore. I'm all for getting to the bottom but we are gettting sidetracked by investigating who this guy was. Why don't we push this murder for a few more days before we find out what was really going on?
To: Born in a Rage
Presumably the implication is that he was an AQ spy because I hope to god a CIA spy wouldn't have sat on his hands if he knew Moussoui.
All this "yes he did!" "no he didn't!" stuff is getting really, really confusing.
To: Reactionary
He may have thought that he was going to contribute to the ant-war movement by posing as a hostage.
I was wondering something similar, because this story is getting weird and isn't passing the smell test.
The horrifying thought:
Assuming Berg and the murderous thugs sort of knew each other, what if Nick 'posed' for the video, thinking it was a PR type stunt. Notice in the video that he does not show much reaction while sitting on the floor, as if he doesn't know what is about to happen. Nick cooperates in filming the PR stunt, but at the last moments, Zarqawi and company perform the real act.

Thing about coincidence stuff is that over time the story seems to have the coincidence exaggerated...
Actually already I've seen several threads with posts stating Berg was Moussaoui's ROOMMATE, and from what I've gathered Fox isn't claiming this at all?
Sort of like the constantly repeated claim that the wife Anthrax victim at AMI rented a room to one of the 9/11 terrorists...actually it was the wife of one of the BOSSES who rented an apartment (she was a real estate agent, not someone renting a room in their house) to one of the 9/11 terrorists, which is still coincidental but a much less striking coincidence.

Too big a coincidence to be a coincidence. What the heck was Berg really up to in Iraq? Was he actually working for the other side and they turned on him? More will emerge. If the CIA theory pans out, it wouldn't be they turned on him, it would they found him out.

"Why do you think Freepers won't like the big story stemming from this matter?"
Are you kidding? OK, let's assume that the story is true and that Berg ends up being linked with the terrorists. How is that going to play? I don't know that to be true, of course, so I'm just playing with the idea.
If Berg is linked with the terrorists, then his beheading may be for other reasons than stated in the video.
Again, time is going to play this out, but it's strange, indeed.

The CIA sent a lily white Jewish kid into darkest Muslim Iraq to go 'deep cover' into al-Queda's underground?
Sounds preposterous, but lately I've come to believe that the CIA could indeed be just that retarded.
To: antaresequity
Can you freepmail those freepers and ask them WHY we might not like the story?

I have seen a bunch of info....Bergs passport had an Israel stamp, he had allowed a terrorist to use his cellphone...and now this. Not sure what is true.

As with all the Jews for Hitler found out. When your usefullness is up, YOUR DEAD. American leftie Jews are so arrogant they think they can do anything, including playing the arab card and they will be ok. Maybe this man's father thought sending his poor son as an envoy to Bin Ladens guys was a neat campaign trick for Kerry. There will be a special place in hell for people like this. I bet he hates Sharon too.

. He may have thought that he was going to contribute to the ant-war movement by posing as a hostage. It didn't work out that way in the end, however. Ooooooh, that's a scary thought. If true, can you imagine his horror when his "friends" turned on him?

To: Born in a Rage
"So what are the implications of this? That he was either a CIA or a terrorist spy?"
Could be either, or neither. He could also be a stupid dupe, who was sucked into this whole thing by being naive. I just don't know, but we're going to hear more.

That seems to be the most likely scenario at this point.
To: ezoeni
There's no way that Nick Berg's beheading was a "sort of" Arkanacide, do you? In relation to the OKC bombing, John Doe and information thereof? Maybe he thought he couldn't trust the government. Not necessarily the Bush administration, but the Clinton holdovers still in place.
(Now where did I put that tin foil?)
To: MineralMan
I must be missing something (it wouldn't be the first time).
Even if he isn't an "innocent" civilian, his death is no less horrifying and I fail to see why freepers won't be happy when the facts come out.

Let's see "you can't make this stuff up" "truth is stranger than fiction" and " I thought I had seen/heard everything" come to mind. I probably would have been to chicken to say it but I had strong reservations about why Berg was in Iraq. I will say that I was to busy to post yesterday.
