Well, we can surmise. Would the CIA send an undercover agent to Iraq with an Jewish name and Israeli stamp on his passport? One must presume not. The father's political leanings could be faked, to make a CIA agent look sympathetic to the terrorists' cause. But the CIA could have alter the son's passport, and surname, to help him blend in better.
A more likely scenario is that Berg's father is lying about his son being a Bush supporter. Then the whole idea of his son going to be a human shield or some other terrorist supporter fits like a glove. The son could have even faked being a Bush supporter to elicit information and pass it on to the bad guys. It would also explain his past association with a terrorist, letting that terrorist use his cell phone and being held or questioned by the Iraqi police or FBI. Again, I wonder what languages he spoke. I've heard he has an uncle living in Iraq (another weirdness). His being killed by his "best friends" (the father's words, not mine) would also fit. Terrorists often kill their own.
Of course, I may be wrong. I often am. I'm just trying to figure out which scenario best fits the facts.
