CIA Says Berg Killed by Terrorist Leader Al-Zarqawi, AP Reports
May 13 (Bloomberg) -- The Central Intelligence Agency said terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed Nick Berg, a 26-year- old American who was kidnapped and beheaded in Iraq, the Associated Press reported, citing an unidentified CIA official.
The CIA determined that al-Zarqawi is most likely Berg's killer after analyzing a video showing Berg's execution, AP said. On the tape, the person determined to be al-Zarqawi and wearing a mask and headscarf, reads a statement criticizing teachers of Islam, then kills Berg, AP reported.
Berg, whose body was found Saturday in Baghdad, was in Iraq to find work on communications towers.
U.S. authorities have said Berg entered Iraq from Jordan and was arrested by Iraqi police near Mosul on March 24, AP reported.

I read on a post this morning that Berg's OKC roommate (while in school there) was an Al Qaeda member who used Bergs computer and e-mail address. There was no name given for the OKC Al Qaeda member, but I bet if some enterprising freeper did some sleuthing, they could find out if Berg was in school in OKC during the OKC bombing.
I really hope the US did not take the tape as assuarance of his being Nick Berg, and did the DNA test.....

I have no idea. I do know from listening to his own words that his father is of the most bizarre form of left wing morons. He is an ANSWER supporter. I wouldn't believe a word he says. His kid was either a sinister individual or a complete goof. What am I to surmise about other family members or people they choose as friends? I'd keep these people out of my life at all costs. The fact that you seem to find them all cuddly is not my problem.
Has anyone addressed why the govt claims he wasn't detained by US forces? The Bergs provided emails to the contrary.

Does anybody remember discussion when the tape first came out about the time signature on the tape not being exactly chronological?
I think the point was there was a lapse in the tape. I can't remember where I read it, maybe somebody else remembers.

We should be demanding proof of his being alive and start reminding our military that we need to get him out...He has a 10 mo old son, and needs to be prayed for and supported, lets stand up for Pfc Keith Maupin...and make sure he wasn't in that video??? How do we go about that guys??
The hostage from Ohio was a National Guard Sergeant, the other hostage's name is Dauphin or Maughphin, a PFC in the Nationalal Guard.
Berg appears to have been connected with the enemy.
