Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."

Nothing like politicizing your son's death.

His son was there on his own accord. Bush had nothing to do with it.

Savage is right, liberalism is a mental illness.

This horrible man is doing a good job of turning compassionate Americans against him. NOT his son - HIM.

This guy is not only indicting Bush and Rumsfield, but all of us who put this administration into office. He needs to only look in the mirror to see who was responsible for putting all the dimwits in office who have ignored obvious signals from aq and others for years in hopes of appeasing these terrorists. Those were the people who let terrorism escalate "because it could".

Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.

Using the death of a loved for partisan political purposes. Sick.

...liberalism is a mental illness.

No one has put it more succinctly or truly than you have, Mike!

I feel bad for any parent going through what these parents are going through, but what this father said today was totally SICK SICK SICK. It raises a LOT of questions in my mind.

Michael Berg has always thought Bush was wrong - ever since Dubya got a phone call from Al Gore in the wee hours of Nov. 8, 2000 letting him know that he was retracting his concession.

I know the man is grieving and I feel for him and his whole family for the loss of Nick and how it came about, but today I've got Fox on in the background and the guy's riding around on his bicycle, helmut and all.

No, Mike, your support for ANSWER and similar organizations emboldened our enemies and that caused your son's death. Well, your actions caused the death of other people's children, so why shouldn't you pay too?

I was sickened by Mr. Berg's 'sins' comment. I am trying to remember this is a man stricken by grief, I've been there myself, but he is beginning to really get on my nerves.

Well it took some time but I read the whole thread. My view is:

1. Berg was murdered by terriorist because he was a Christian/Jew from a Christian/Jewish nation. That is what the terriorist believe and it does not matter what is the truth about the US being a secular society. Certain people need to understand this basic truth.

2. Berg's father should get some understanding for his statements in grief, but we do not have to stand by and leave such wrong headed comments unchallenged.

3. The story of Berg so far in Iraq has several holes in it. How odd is it that a AQ member used his e-mail account in college? What Berg was doing in Iraq is hard to understand. But whatever he was doing in Iraq, he was still murdered by terriorist because he was a Christian/Jew from a Christian/Jewish nation.

4. Maybe the father will come around in his thinking. Maybe not. If not he is wrong and he will still have my sympathy.

5. One is very likely a troll if one is posting DU theories so soon after joining FR.

Berg the Elder is a malicious, sick headed, useful idiot.

Berg the Younger died for something; his brutal murder has reawakened America to the Koranazis' bloodlust.

Pearl and Berg. Koranazis' M.O. learned from Mo'ham', their one true profiteer.

We should thank that audacious young American, as we pray for his soul.

Kerry can use Berg the Elder's foolishness.
