Globe caught with pants down: Paper duped into running porn photos
By Herald staff
Thursday, May 13, 2004
The Boston Globe was reeling yesterday after graphic photos of alleged sexual abuse of Iraqi women by U.S. soldiers turned out to be staged shots from a hardcore porn Web site.
``This photo should not have appeared in the Globe,'' editor Martin Baron said in a statement. ``First, images portrayed in the photo were overly graphic. Second, as the story clearly pointed out, those images were never authenticated as photos of prisoner abuse. There was a lapse in judgment and procedures, and we apologize for it.''
The ``lapse'' came after City Councilor Chuck Turner and perennial pot-stirrer Sadiki Kambon called a press conference in the wake of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal to display more purported abuse photos. Turner claimed they came from ``a very legitimate person'' but admitted they hadn't been authenticated. Kambon said he got them from a representative of the Nation of Islam. Neither Turner nor Kambon returned calls. (snip)

Which page/edition are the photos in? I will go to the library and take a look when those papers come in (I am in Houston).

I don't know what page (I didn't see them), but I got the impression it was the first and second editions, and perhaps they were removed by the third. The first edition is supposedly the clearest. Drudge had a snapshot of the page
here, but the image not loading today.

Take the publisher and editors out and hang them. Their only thought was to discredit the U.S. military and the United States without thought of verification. The mainstream media is THE ENEMY. It must be stopped.

Yeah,
here is a link to the photo of the 2 goons showing the pictures off.
WARNING! The pictures are somewhat viewable, so if you are offended don't click the link.
If you ask me, these 2 kooks on the Boston City Council are nothing but perverts.
I've said this a million times before, "Enjoy your porn at home!" Sheeshh, how many times do I have to tell these people. </sarcasm>

Make sure they don't try running the photos of the British soldiers urinating on prisoners...

Yeh. The media has become so desperate for 'gotcha' stories on the Administration, they will fall for anything.
They are more interested in their political agenda than in reporting real news.

Now that they've been revealed to be a deliberate hoax, time to prosecute for treason:
Charge the fit-up fakers with treason (re: Daily Mirror's fake UK Iraqi POW photos)
Who needs al-Jazeera when youve got the Guardian and the BBC? In the Second World War we were only up against Lord Haw Haw and the might of Nazi Germany. These days weve got morale being undermined 24/7.
England hanged Lord Haw Haw for his Nazi propaganda broadcasts (convicted of treason). There has been some speculation that he would not have been executed if he had been tried in America (he was American by birth). Axis Sally was also convicted of treason but eventually was released from prison and became an American schoolteacher.

Interesting that both FAKE PHOTOS news stories should hit the front page today (the British treasonous photos and the stolen porn site photos that ran in the arab press).
I tried to explain yesterday that the terrorists who killed Nick Berg may not have even been responding to the same photos Americans saw on SeeBS. There was far more disgusting imagery in the foreign press. That it was fake was not understood by the terrorists (or man on the street arabs).
The American media (prior to Berg's video and especially now) did not want to acknowledge that some on the other side of the war effort (peaceniks or Al Qaida, doesn't really matter) were faking abuse photos/news. It would have put the whole story into suspicion.

Actually I've got to give the nod to World Net Daily on this one. They brought this issue to light and were the only ones to report on it.
They even got the US government to make a statement to the arab press about it. They also brought it up at the White House press briefing a couple of days ago. If only the American press had bothered to notice.
I don't read WND much these days (directly). In the 1990s, it was where I got my daily headlines and my conservative commentary. Since 9-11-2001 I come to FR first.
I still read WND articles that are posted to FR but I get itching to respond/highlight/bookmark what I read.
I will click on Drudge Report at times to see what he has for headlines but I only do that when it is a "slow" news day.

Please use it.
Registered created it for me last week when the lies of the left, like these fake pictures, were being exposed by the hour. He is amazing, with minutes of suggesting that a logo be create, Registered came up w/this great logo.
This should be part of Free Republic's log in page:

You sound like me re WND. I basically gave up on them when they started attacking GW after the supreme court made its decision.
If there is any good news from WND, it will be posted on FR. I don't even log on to the site. I just read the stuff from FR.

The ultimate FReep of the Boston Globe would be for people to call up and cancel their subscriptions today.
The Houston Chronicle got buzzed over a month ago for their biased editorializing in an article about a slain Marine from Houston. His stepfather supports the President but wanted to keep all politics out of his son's obituary. The writer proceded to interject slams on the war effort and other DNC talking points in between 2 quotes from the family member.
The Chronicle subscription department was rude to the callers and tried to tell them that it wasn't so. An editor appeared on a local talk radio program and was equally rude.
The whole incident blew up because the family member called a local talk radio show to complain about the article. With host Dan Patrick's help he was able to take his story nationwide to Laura Ingraham and others (Michael Reagan and Bill O'Reilly I believe).
This Friday, Dan Patrick will be launching an online publication to compete with the Comical for local news. I saw that mention on the KSEV 700AM website.
