Where's the exit from this mess? [Cowards and Pissants]

THE DESIRE to escape the Iraq trap grows stronger every day. As daily reports from Iraq richochet between grim and grisly, the psychological vise tightens. The brain wants out. But the ugly headlines, photographs, and video won't go away. One neighbor says he is reading a book on physics to escape war news. At the start of a Mother's Day road race, a fellow runner confesses a newly acquired taste for mind-numbing television shows like "Extreme Makeover." Home and Garden TV is a personal draw; it is much more pleasant to contemplate the touches that give a house curb appeal than think about American abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib or the videotaped beheading of an American by Islamic militants linked to Al Qaeda. Even so, mental escape is not easy. Springtime in America -- from lilacs to baseball games, from tulips to weddings -- is beautiful, but not beautiful enough to block out the ugliness in Iraq.

Hidden in this article is sour grapes because Americans are turning off the propoganda-disguised-as-news.
I have taken to HGTV myself, although it is mostly so I don't have to see or hear Kerry.
To: Miss Marple
I have found myself watching Emeril, and actually thinking about making some of those dishes.
As difficult as it is to listen to a putz like Kerry, I am even more sickened by the rest of the news - from Brittany Spears to Abu G to Clinton to Michael Moore, and so on. And if I have to hear one more soundbite from the ugly and hateful Sen. Kennedy, I'll surely puke. His recent statements are beyond hideous, given that he knew about this stuff as one of the 17 recipients of the March letter, and did nothing. But then, he has a history of sleeping it off and taking a shower before going public.

But the ugly headlines, photographs, and video won't go away. And we smug "Journalists" with AIDS dementia will do everything possible to make certain it doesn't, in between our 24/7 Kerry Infomercials.
The Globe is the NYT, remember...

This year marks my 15th since I stopped watching alphabet TV. I never saw a Northern Exposure, Seinfeld, Sex in the City, etc. and can't name a news reader who wasn't doing it before that time.
I find myself oddly calm whenever any of my friends call me, ranting on, spurred by the latest proclamations of doom spewing forth from the tube.
For you see, I have been liberated! First by talk radio, then by the Internet and Free Republic, and finally by the blogosphere.
So whenever one of my friends is frantically relating the latest catastrophe to overtake us, I tell them to stay calm. It'll be all right. And sure enough it is.

"Where's the exit from this mess?"
It's about 10 years away, if everyone helps, and "never" if the Democrats don't get with the program. Although I expect the Dems to miraculously get with the program, after W is re-elected. (After the hangover, of course)
To: johnny7
They just don't get it. And, the fact that we just don't get it scares the hell out of me. This is a clash, worldwide, of good against evil. There is no one war and no one battle ground. It's being fought everywhere. Evil has in some instances disguised itself as religion. Evil has disguised itself as " freedom of speech". Evil has disguised itself as weak kneed politicians and pie in the sky, one issue goody two shoe liberals bent on hamstringing our government and police forces with their" Civil Rights above all else" mentality. Evil is coming at us from the judicial bench, the perverted numbers of homosexuals who want to be different, but the same, with the same rights and privileges enjoyed by civilized folks. This ramble could go on forever. Do what you can to confront the Devil face to face, from wherever and through whomever comes this assault on morality, decency and justice. We are destined to be the generation of the Great Battle. Will we win, God, I hope we have the courage for the fight.

THE DESIRE to escape the Iraq trap grows stronger every day. When will we be pulling the troops out of Cuba?

I have found myself watching Emeril, and actually thinking about making some of those dishes.I'm gravitating to the stations showing these 30 something guys and gals furiously (chaotically?) remodeling houses. Women handling power tools! Doing home makeovers.

t's about 10 years away, if everyone helps, .... If you think the American people are going to support a ten year war in Iraq, I've got some ocean front property in Colorado that I'm sure you'll be interested in.

Although I expect the Dems to miraculously get with the program, after W is re-elected I don't see that happening junior. They bet the farm that they could force us into another painful humiliation as they did in Vietnam. The party has given the reins to the wingding's and muzzled their few moderates.
After the elections, the Pelosi's, Kennedy's and Byrd's will continue their shameful attacks but behind the curtain, Hillary will be marshaling her forces. She will become a phony dem 'moderate' as this is the only way to win in 2008. Under her, the party will truly be run by the Clinton's.

Exactly, that is what truly is happening. The partisan media just doesn't get it. Perhaps people are not watching then news right now because they are sick and tired of the constant berating of America. I watched Scarborough Country last night. Joe was about ready to get out of his chair and kick some ass. He is right, enough is enough. Why is it that the partisan media assumes evernyone hates Bush just as much as they do?

Understand where you are coming from...
The Israelis have been fighting the War on Terror for years. They have no choice. Some in this country apparently think we do. They are wrong. We can run but we can't hide. They will do to us what they did to the Israeli woman and her daughters last week if we let them. They will do to us what they did to Nick Berg if we don't stand up to them. This is a fight to the death and the other side has declared "No Quarter". Hopefully the American public will see the light... Doesn't appear to be registering with our political leaders who are flagellating themselves over the problems at the Baghdad prison... God help us if that is the prevailing view in this country come November.
