Gee...I wonder if the NEA would sponsor a national tour of these pictures in fine art gallery's from coast to coast?

Had Robert Mapplethorpe snapped the photos at Abu Ghraib, the Senate might have given him a government grantBWAAHAHAA

Great article.
I'm sure Mapplethorpe's fist hurt a lot more than a banana.

This is the best article I've read in 2 days. This is exactly the root of the problem imho.

If the fish rots from the head down, the head here is a political class willing to use the military as a laboratory for a domestic ideological agenda even as that means lowering standards and exposing the military to destructive cultural currents. They imposed on the military a popular culture debased at the bottom and top -- from Jerry Springer for the peasants to Robert Mapplethorpe for the rich. If the Abu Ghraib incident looks like a demented reality show or one of those Mapplethorpe images they used to subsidize, they should begin the finger-pointing with each other. The Dems are especially shocked. I was just listening to Rush point out that it's the Dems who are shocked, shocked, shocked at the photos that haven't been released publicly yet. Inhofe (and the other Republicans) say they're more of the same.
Rush also had a few words for Barney Frank (who is also shocked).

I'm worried about what's up the RATS collective sleeve when Chuckie Schumer agrees with Trent Lott.
They both agree that the remaining photos should NOT be released.

I agree -- the author of
The Armchair Economist takes a quote from Adam Smith to the effect that two competitors never get together without screwing the customer and expands it to "bipartisan."
There is another thread here somewhere saying the Red Cross doesn't want the rest to be released because it would violate the prisoners' rights. There's a lot that could have been said in favor of releasing none of them, but -- as it stands now -- the Dems are whining that the others are much worse than what we've seen, that they've never seen anything so awful, blah, blah. Inhofe, on the other hand, and I think other Republicans, say they're pretty much more of the same.
Who to believe? Hmmm, Dems or Inhofe? Or, more to the point, which will the press run with?

IMHO what the RATS are referring to as the "much worse" pictures and video yet to be released are the tapes involving Pfc England's sexual exploits and NOT the pictures of MP's humiliating prisoners.
It rankles and proper Lib/RAT's sensibilites and offends them ANY time they have to wittness two STRAIGHT people involved in sexual activity. Just ask barney Frank...he'll tell ya! /sarcasm

They both agree that the remaining photos should NOT be released. Yes, but there is a difference --Lott sees there is no reason to release them, Shumer sees that by not releasing the Bush Admin will get accused of covering up and hiding stuff and the story will stay in the news that much longer.

Good point I hadn't thought of it that way.
Privately Chuckie says "we shouldn't show the photos" everyone is in agreement and they don't get shown.
Then under the glare of the TV lights he can go bloviate about the WH "cover up of the truth" by not releasing the photos.
