I've never seen anything like it in American pop-culture. Joss Whedon just introduced a new character who's a bleached-blond United States Senator and who intends to become President in 2008. Her most trusted aid is a vampire, and she's a member of the Circle of the Black Thorn - the most evil assemblage of characters in the history of the greater Buffy-verse [kind of like a Justice League of America, only for evil, not good].
Talk about your full body slams... All I can say is: WOW!

My girlfriend and my brothers are all Whedrones...I'm not. I guess they know something I don't.

Did you notice how hot the new Fred looks? She looks like she gained just enough weight to hide the bone structure in her face. Then she changed into the old Fred and the skinny gawky little girl came out again during the last episode. Unbelievable acting. I swear it was so good, she was able to change her facial features.

Yup. The Blue chick rocks. Didn't have to go half-naked either like most of the other hollyweird bimbos. Go figure.

On the Fox show 24, there is a Senator running for President named John Keeler. His campaign posters look just like Kerry's.
In last week's episode he blackmailed the President.

Half ice-demon, half unctuous, power-seeking United States senator, Hillary seems like she'd be the perfect foil for Buffy, were she still on the air.
Maybe she can do battle with Emma Caufield. Young, vivacious blood vs. old, slightly reptilian cold blood. Just some suggestions here.

Maybe she can do battle with Emma Caufield. Except Emma's character is deaded and sealed in the Hellmouth. Even in the Whedonverse, chances of returning from than are no better than 10%.

Haven't seen it yet, it's on tape (love Angel, Buffy... my guilty pleasures) -- but it can't be deliberate. Whedon is a wonderful writer, but is proudly a totally Godless uber-feminist PC-type.

And did you catch the part where President Palmer's ex-wife is an evil manipulate beyatch who wants to take over the world, while his loyal aide looks very much like a younger Laura Bush?

I don't think anyone is ever going to outdo Pizza Hut's pseudo-Hillary:
"I want to be your Senator!"

Wow. I recorded Angel last night but haven't watched it, which I will now do immediately upon getting home.

I remember now - it was the Italian Wolfram-Hart babe's comment about how the Americans are so quick to fight when there have problems. I did get a kick out of her spitting every time she mentioned Gypsies: "Gypsies!! Pffffehhh!!!" I guess the Romany are still an OK target in our PC times.

Actually, I thought that those remarks were an off-handed praise of Americans, but I suppose it depends on your perspective. [For instance, I seem to recall that Zemeckis et al intended Forrest Gump to be a scathing satire of small town America, and were shocked when small town America found the movie to be, instead, a paean.]
To: Oztrich Boy
Point taken.
I'd never actually seen the show until this past year, when I begain watching some of the old episodes running in syndication on UPN.
I've always loved the way Emma Caufield looked though. I had read somewhere that she was a Republican, but refused to really talk about it to the media because of the possible repercussions to her acting career.
It's been shocking how much Alyson Hanagan has taken over the whole "American Pie" franchise, though I always thought that she had some of the funniest one-liners of the series.

I'm shocked that I've never seen this. Maybe Clinton's backers pressured Pizza Hut to drop it amidst her senate campaign.
I know that the owner of Pizza Hut supports a lot of conservative causes, but I would have loved to have seen this commercial. Too late, I guess.

Maybe Clinton's backers pressured Pizza Hut to drop it amidst her senate campaign. Carville ranted and raved about the commercial, so the DC Chapter arranged to have a bunch of Pizza Hut Pizzas delivered to his offices. With unpleasant topping combinations (anchovy and onion, for example).

Great tactic! I suggest that the next time Carville does one of his numerous, paid speaking engagments, we have someone show up in a costume like the ones worn by the reptiles/aliens in the TV series "V."
Perhaps it'll freak him out so badly that he'll be forced to cop to his true identity and reveal for all the world to see what a true space alien looks like under his human trappings.
