No, I think it's a mistake in translation. It should be holey cities, not holy, as in "full of holes". Since they can't stop blowing themselves, cars, buildings, etc up, then yes, all the cities are holey.

Agree--the point is that Sadr is backpedaling--the Army has day after day been killing his followers, closing down his mosques, and hemming him in. Don't know if his offer is real, a negotiating stance, or just a play for time--but the point is--we are winning!

The only way we're going to defeat our enemies is to first recognize that yes, we are at war with Islam, because Islam declared war on us, and that the only way to defeat barbarians is to become bigger, badder, smellier and more brutal barbarians ourselves. Daisy Cutters, MOABs, nukes? You bet...fry the SOBs until they sing "God Bless America". Maybe then Bush, Rumsfeld, Clark, et al, will regain my trust. I learned nothing I didn't already know. Our soldiers and Marines are doing a fine job, and would do an even better job if their bumbling, cowardly leaders in DC would take the chains off them and let them do their freakin' job. This is a war, not a spelling bee. The way to win a war is to pound your enemy into submission, make him live in fear of your very shadow, then turn the Civil Affairs REMF units loose to paint school walls. Our wimpy, girly-man "leaders" need to read Sun-Tsu or Machiavelli, or better yet, watch "Patton" a time or six.

Sorry, but we won't win in Karbala unless Sadr is captured or dead. If we allow him to live and continue to function the 'slimes will see that as a 'slime victory, and so will all the other 'slimes around the world.

Sorry to disagree completely with my fellow FReepers ...but this isnt Nam...enemy is totally dif. and while true this scenerio didnt work in Nam I, based upon experience, believe it will work in Iraq...lets wait and see.
