GEORGETOWN, Guyana -- A Jamaican man collapsed and died on a nonstop flight from Guyana to New York on Tuesday, airline officials said.

Rupert Cameron, 33, was pronounced dead when North American Airlines Flight 92 from Georgetown arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport just before 2 p.m. EDT, said Jenny DeBarros, a spokeswoman for the Queens-based airline.

Cameron had complained of feeling unwell and repeatedly asked for water. Several passengers, including a Guyanese doctor, administered CPR when he stopped breathing, DeBarros said.

It was unclear when an autopsy would be performed.

Authorities detained a Jamaican friend traveling with Cameron.

Cameron had arrived in this South American country on May 4 and had been staying with friends in the bauxite mining town of Linden, 70 miles south of Georgetown.

Could be something he tried to smuggle. The authorities will no doubt check.

What's the over/under on the number of cocaine-filled bags that will be found in his stomach when they conduct an autopsy?

Probably an OD, or he suddenly realized there was a chance meeting between himself and Crusty when he arrived in NY, and the thought was too much to bear.

The country of Guyana is estimated to have 2 million carats of diamonds still unmined. I'll go with diamonds.

You're probably right. I was distracted by the reference to Jamaica. But a ruptured bag of coke in the stomach would be a definite killer.

Nah, diamonds would be fine. It's drugs. The human digestive tract is quite accomodating to objects, it's the chemistry of the object or material that gets you.

"Definitely a mule." Or maybe he was unknowingly injected with a contagious lethal virus.

Thinking he's a mule but with Georgetown as the destination doesn't seem logical. Gonna watch this one.
