Ready for some SWEET Irony? (A vote in the Senate today)

Posted on 05/11/2004 10:30:31 PM PDT by GottaLuvAkitas1

It has been a very sad 24 hours, but I hope this brings at least one small smile of sweet irony to your face.

A vote in the senate today- "extension of unemployment benefits".

The DEMS lost by ONE vote. Guess who did not show up to vote today guys? John F Kerry war hero SELF ASSIGNED, and savior for the Dem. party.

Kerry wants to be president, but he can't even do the job he has now! Way to represent there Johnny!

Now is the time to laugh your a$$ off! LOL

Oh no... I'm convinced. How many more weeks are needed? 52, 104? You just let me know how long they need to get their lives together. I know it takes some time to get one's life reorganized and back on track. Just call Congress and have them send the bill to Mr. Atos. I'll squeeze the payment in between family health insurance and my student loan payments. You know, its kinda tough to work two jobs and take 15 credit hours per semester. But, in the end retraining pays off and my family should really help spread the benefits of 5 years of hard work and all those years of financial sacrifice. be sure you spell it correctly and send it directly to Teddy... M-R. A-T-O-S. My checkbook is out.

Ahem. Get it?!

There you go, misdirecting away from the topic. It won't win you many debates. The matter before us was extending unemployment benefits, not making it a permanent entitlement.

Yes, I've been in the same place as you. I worked my way through college fulltime WITHOUT student loans, and I still work in the same field to this day, 15 years later. Imagine that? (That is, I earned a BS degree at one of the top regional universities and graduated without student loans.) Got through it with very hard work on all fronts. And like I said I worked fulltime and got hammered by taxes.

Doesn't change my opinion about unemployment insurance for hard hit geographies or fields.

Freegards,

Jane

Again... how long? Unemployment insurance for 2 years, 5 years , 10 years? How long does it take?

No one has ever suggested getting rid of unemployment benefits. But, there is a reasonable period allowed for one to re-orient their employment conditions under the current system. Voting to extend benefits indefinitely is nothing more than political folly with a Socialist twist.
