"Just call Congress and have them send the bill to Mr. Atos. I'll squeeze the payment in between family health insurance and my student loan payments. You know, its kinda tough to work two jobs and take 15 credit hours per semester. But, in the end retraining pays off and my family should really help spread the benefits of 5 years of hard work and all those years of financial sacrifice."

Yes, I've been in the same place as you. I worked my way through college fulltime WITHOUT student loans, and I still work in the same field to this day, 15 years later. Imagine that? (That is, I earned a BS degree at one of the top regional universities and graduated without student loans.) Got through it with very hard work on all fronts. And like I said I worked fulltime and got hammered by taxes.

Doesn't change my opinion about unemployment insurance for hard hit geographies or fields.

Freegards,

Jane

Again... how long? Unemployment insurance for 2 years, 5 years , 10 years? How long does it take?

No one has ever suggested getting rid of unemployment benefits. But, there is a reasonable period allowed for one to re-orient their employment conditions under the current system. Voting to extend benefits indefinitely is nothing more than political folly with a Socialist twist.
