Danny Pearl was Jewish and a few talk radio hosts have speculated on the name. But you don't see the main stream media addressing the question. I would suspect it's because they are already ideologically friendly with anti-Semites in the region. Hey, it's only the other side that that's ever racist, greedy, stupid, etc.

The WSJ is claiming today that he was Jewish. That may have contributed to his being selected. (my opinion)
