The source for that info was his father. It may be true or it may be false. There are plenty of people around here in Philadelphia who knew Nick Berg and had worked with him and knew his political affiliations and feelings about the war.
Get rid of your whiny DU loser-boy blame the victim I don't know what the truth is mentality.

>>yet they've said Nick supported the Bush administration
Tom Metzger (Neo Nazi) supported Bustamante (Mexican in favor of giving California back to the Aztecs) in the California governors race.
Civil war is useful, and profitable,... and makes for strange bedfellows.

There are plenty of people around here in Philadelphia who knew Nick Berg and had worked with him and knew his political affiliations and feelings about the war. Well, that's good- that's what I wanted to know.
Get rid of your whiny DU loser-boy blame the victim I don't know what the truth is mentality.
Right, clueless- I'm DU material and you're a member of Code Pink. I don't recall insulting you or the victim of the murder and I sure as hell didn't blame him for anything since blame rightly belongs square on the nutjobs with the dull knife. As for 'I don't know what the truth is,' I don't know the guy and I'm at least honest about it and am trying to learn what the story is, though the press reporting of it- when they can tear themselves away from their spin cycle- hasn't helped. But apparently you know him and his friends personally - but for some reason you expect everyone else to know him and his friends, too.
(And if you're going to bother trying to insult people, at least take the time to learn how to do it with skill. Your aim is off towards left field and you throw like a florist.)

His father's signature at A.N.S.W.E.R. is what likely caused his detention in Iraq. The father is paying a high price for his politics.

The father is a liberal and is against the war, the son was a conservative and was for the war.
The father ran the office for the son's tower business (as I understand it).
The father's signature on A.N.S.W.E.R.'s site is probably what raised the suspicions of the son's activities in Iraq.
That's one political statement that cost dearly.

It seems his father was already on the radar in connection with Mousaui (the nut case with a need to fly jumbo jets). he had been interviewed then by the FBI after 9/11.
The ANSWER stuff was just more food for the dossier.
He was already on someones list, it appears.
I suspect that for each and every public statement this grieving father issues to the press, their will be more information regarding his credibility.
His son was killed because he was a valuable prize of the enemy. He was a Jew.
I don't think his fathers FBI file or his antiwar activities had a damn thing to do with his sons detention or his execution.

>> Actually, I doubt it. King, the media, etc., will not show this guy. His links to ANSWER will prevent it. The conservative response is all too readily predictable, and if there's -one- thing the media will not risk, it's actually having to report honestly on International ANSWER and what it means to be a member.
That's my prediction anyway. This father will get no airplay. Let's see who's right. <<
I'm betting you are wrong. The media is such a slimy disingenuous bunch. They simply will never mention A.N.S.W.E.R. and Nick Berg's father certainly won't bring it up either. To make mention of the father's Un-American activities is to show why Nick was detained in the first place and where the responsibility (not blame) for that detention really lies.
The old man is not about to ever take responsibility for any of his harmful activities. None of them ever do.
To: wirestripper
I think his father's activities could have been a factor as to why he was detained by the Iraqis and/or FBI. From the reports about his past roommate there could be other reasons as well.
I don't think this had anything to do with his murder other than bad luck/timing.

[. The FBI apparently conducted a lengthy investigation of Berg in captivity because they were checking out a possible friendship or other tie with an Arab at the University of Oklahoma who was under scrutiny in connection with the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
. The source said that in addition to his passport, cash and a laptop, Berg had two books when he was arrested in Mosul on March 24 that aroused suspicion: the Koran and a book that authorities somehow interpreted as "anti-Semitic."]

Sorry for blowing up. I was upset yesterday when I learned about this. Now I'm just mad, like with the destruction of World Trade Center Towers One and Two, and looking for vengenace and justice.
To: katz
No, I haven't compared any of Berg's photo's from the other threads. I don't want any additional shock to motivate me, I don't need it, and while I can understand the need for others to view the murder I, myself, don't want to pollute any more brain cells than I have to. I'll pass.
