Good versus Evil. Get used to it.

Posted on 05/11/2004 4:55:45 PM PDT by Pukin Dog

I just watched the Nick Berg decapitation video. I watched it three times. I downloaded it, and I intend to watch it again and again and again. I am going to watch it until I am sure that I will never again forget the difference between Good and Evil. Now I am going to run my mouth and hope it does some good.

I have been meaning to write a post regarding the Iraqi Prisoner abuse scandal, and its relationship to the earlier LTC West issue, where I was in the extreme minority who felt that West should have been prosecuted and thrown out of the Army. Now, today’s video, I feel compelled to address these issues with you good folks. Recently I had the opportunity to talk to a couple of WWII veterans about their war and ours, and the differences in the US from then to now.

I got the sense that people from that earlier generation feel that they saved us and failed us at the same time. They saved us by winning the war, but they failed us in allowing us to forget why they were willing to fight and die for you and me in such numbers. They talked about signing up for the Army the day after Pearl Harbor, how there was no doubt in their minds about what they were doing, no one questioning the rightness of their cause or suggesting that the US deserved what happened to us that day.

On a trip from San Diego to Washington, I stopped at the Air Museum in Tillamook OR. Do yourself a favor and visit the place if you ever are in the area. It is inside a huge Blimp Hanger where Blimps were stored between missions patrolling the Pacific Coast during the early days of WWII. It is next to an airfield where an F-14 that was donated to the museum blew a tire trying to stop on their 500 ft runway. They made it. Inside that museum, there are aircraft and other displays that do a very good job reminding visitors of the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

I felt a bit of shame that at the time I was on my way to Everett WA to learn about the Boeing 777, instead of back in the Navy flying the Tomcat in defense of my country. There are displays of former aviators who lost their lives, their ribbons laid out next to their uniforms, with their pictures on the walls. Men who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that you and I could sit back tonight and argue whether Shack or Kobe can come back against the Spurs, as if that was all we needed to be concerned about tonight.

Today, instead of enjoying my time off, I am filled with rage about what was done to that civilian by those bastard in sheets so brave they could not show their faces while they cut, no they SAWED that young mans head off while he screamed in agony. More so, I am outraged by the performance of the popular media. I am without Fox News in my hotel room tonight, so I have been forced to watch CNN tell me over and over that Taguba said that the Prisoner Scandal was a “failure of leadership” and cut the tape before Taguba can be shown saying “from the Brigadier General on down”, in a blatant attempt to spin what the man said to appear to be an indictment of the Bush administration. I have drawn my conclusion: CNN is Evil.

I watched as much of today’s hearings as CNN would show where it appeared that they would cut away whenever a positive point was being made. I watched Senator Byrd and the other Democrats poke and poke and poke, looking for anything that would fuel anger against President Bush, in clear disregard of what the witnesses said. Senate Democrats are Evil. I can’t help but be reminded that there are people in this country who actively support these Senators. They vote for them over and over again. In my book, Ted Kennedy is a murderer, yet he sits there passing judgment on others as though he was saintly against a President he considers to be beneath him. Teddy Kennedy is Evil personified. I see the Democrats and Media passing judgment on our President and I think of what they might be saying were this May of 1942, instead of 2004. Does anyone doubt that they would be actively working against our men fighting WWII?

These are sick people. SICK. The fact that they hold office means that at least 40% of this country is made up of either sick or stupid people. I did not risk my life for 22 years in the Navy defending these people, but the rest of the nation that keeps them at bay. I hope I was defending those who can disagree with the strategy and actions of our President, yet respect his integrity and honesty. Nothing bothers me more than to link to Free Republic and see a gathering of so-called Conservatives bashing our President because they have some disagreement with his actions. There is never any context or perspective, just attack. We don’t consider the enormous responsibilities of his office, when the most important thing some of us have to do each day is let out the cat. Why can’t we disagree without disrespect?

The hardest decision I will make today will be where I eat dinner. I won’t come online to attack people who are tasked with saving my life from terrorism, no matter how much I may disagree with a tactic or idea. Call me Bush-bot, say I drank the Kool-aid, say whatever, but don’t assume that while you sit there with a coke and a smile, that you know what its like to be someone in the Bush Administration responsible for your American ass, before you rush off to participate in some Web poll because you cant stand it if that poll disagrees with you to the point where you don’t mind making money the site that produced the poll you so desperately want to lean your way. Even if that site is CNN or MSNBC, whose mission is to take away your independence. WTF are you doing?

Folks it is our turn. If America is to remain true to the nation that those who went before us wanted it to be, we will never forget what those on the other side of the aisle are trying to do to us. I remember not too long ago, under a Democrat president, when I did not know if my squadron was going to be allotted the fuel and maintenance money necessary to keep our pilots skills up to par. Flight hours were cut and cut again, while Bill Clinton was trying to find ways to give more of your money to PBS and the NEA so that they could respectively lie and offend us. There are Democrats in Congress who think we landed on Mars, who can’t get a credit card, who have never had a private sector job, who take great pride in taking your money and giving it to some loser who couldn’t spell cat if you spotted them the C and the T. That is their constituency. They are EVIL.

I have no doubt that Bush is going to win in November. I know that that opinion is not shared among all of us, but I don’t know why not, when it is up to us to make it happen. If Bush does NOT win, it will be our fault, because we will have decided that what is going on right now against us is acceptable. We will have decided that our opponents on the left are just well-meaning people who just disagree with us on the issues, instead of the evil bastards they happen to be. I don’t know if every evil person knows themselves to be evil, and I don’t care. All I know is that while Americans are roasted, and hung on bridges like overcooked brisket, and soldiers are shot at from places of worship, and a civilian’s head swinging from the fist of a coward in a mask, CNN, the DNC and liberals all over the world are trying to blame my President for everything wrong in the world, instead of the evil perpetrators committing these actions.

At the same time, we give ratings to Chris Matthews, watch CNN’s commercials, listen to Don Imus, stay up for Nightline, and wish Joe Scarborough success as he forgets where he came from, so he can serve his liberal masters and keep his job. This is the last night I stay in a hotel that does not have FoxNews available. I may be crazy, but I don’t want to pay to be propagandized. I don’t want to hear anymore about how scandalous it is to embarrass an Iraqi terrorist, when these networks won’t even show these terrorists killing one of our people. We are at war with the Democrats and the Media, and if we are to save ourselves from their goals, we must hurt them where they will feel it. Just don’t watch. Don’t listen, and for god’s sake DON’T POLL. Make the bastards earn their money by become fair and balanced.

I’ve got a lot more to say, but my fingers hurt. If I offended you, just wait, because I’ll be back with more. If you get a chance, watch the video. It will hurt and disgust you, but it will remind you of what we are up against.

Well said, Dog.

This is the last night I stay in a hotel that does not have FoxNews available.

I'm planning a trip in a couple of weeks and plan to stay at a particular hotel. Your message stimulated me to contact them and ask if they provide Fox News. We'll see if we get an answer.

By the way, in the past I checked out your former unit. It appears that you probably didn't grab the wire on my son's ship - the Teddy Roosevelt - during the Gulf War, but had you, I'm sure that they would have welcomed you.

Thank you for your service. And keep the faith. We're going to beat these SOB's.

I watched the video. I am old but I thought if he went thru it, the very least I can do is to witness what he went through. It felt like a duty. If he were my son, I would have watched it. And whilst watching him scream as they sawed, without pity, indeed with excitement and animal sounds, I crossed a line. I think that it is going to take another 911, worse than the original, to wake up this country. Most people are not like us, they haven't crossed that line. But after the next attack, God help us, but after it happens, God help the terrorists. Because we will be coming then and it will be terrible, the most terrible thing to see ever. I wish it weren't so, but it is. And if you watch the video and see the face of the enemy and know how many they are and if you watch congress and see the other face of the enemy, you will know what it will take and what the outcome will be.

I know what you mean, and I used to question blanket demonizing of any group. After today, I don't. Congressional representatives are put in place by their followers. Anyone in America that voted for Ted Kennedy needs an ass-kickin. I can say that without worrying about those who didn't know better, as it is no excuse. If an 80 year old woman who only wanted better health care and voted for Kennedy, I wish another 80 year old woman would kick her ass. So much for eloquence?

If Americans don't begin to see this conflict in terms of Good and Evil, we're doomed.

Spot on.

Thank you.

You are right. I hope that if this country is ever attacked again, that the administration can somehow come up with a theory that the terrorists came from France.

I'm with ya! Look as far as I am concerned if America doesn't get is collective ass together it won't be around long. Those among us who insist on tearing our/my country down are traitors. We are at war, like it or not and far too many Americans simply turn a deaf ear and a blind eye.

Moving right along, I stayed for two nights in a Courtyard Marriot in Denver, and it did not have Foxnews. I suffered withdrawal pains. I did not see the hearings with angered you. But I do know, that overacting to partisan sniping over time, is a mistake. Our politicians of both parties tend not these days to be worthy exemplars of representatives of those inhabiting the shining city on the hill. Most are into risk management, but then we are also while aspiring to the shining city, not really its in habitants either. And so it goes. But that is another topic for another time.

We can move along, but I would like to think that the mental picture of one 80 year old woman beating up another in defense of liberty made you smile just a little?

Usually I agree. But this Partisan sniping is feeling very different. This is a dangerous time and either the snipers are stupid beyond all telling or venal. I think many are stupid but the venal worry me. And to see the media spinning on the very day that Berg had his head sawed off, well, it is like something I have never seen in my life.

It does. My grandmother, who lived to be 99, and who was seemingly ancient, even when I was knee high to a grasshopper, was the toughest sister I have ever come across on this planet. Sentimentality was simply not her bag, as her very intelligent, but unforgiving, piercing and judgmental eyes, caste rapprochement at the errancy of not only the young, but at that of her peers as well. When I drove my college friends to visit her in Iowa from Chicago (when she was in her 80's), they NEVER forgot her. In fact, in an odd way, they were jealous. They simply didn't have a grandmother like I did. Few did.

The family I'll not judge....Ceci is despicable.

This she was, she spent her time in the green room brushing up on the rats talking points. Fred barnes on the other hand, was having no part of her rhetoric. He seemed visibly upset, that he had to listen to her barbarba striesand. I wish Britt would have been there, he would have set her straight forthwith.

I wrote Brit's show a scathing email about Ceci tonight pointing out her tactic of trying to convince us we are losing this war and how many people died after VietNam when that lie worked.

Ceci isn't going to get away with it this time. We have the hindsight of VNam itself and the internet.

Thank you for this rant.

My father enlisted in the navy at the age of 18, in 1943. He never spoke much about his service or experience, until I started asking questions. I did a video biography with him in 1998, and he said then, "I can't imagine an event that could happen that would bring this country together again in the patriotic spirit and the purpose that we had at that time."

I learned so much of what I know about politics from my dad. One of our last political conversations, concerned the coup d'etat that Gore was trying to pull in late 2000, and how distressed my dad was about it. We lost Dad 5 days before George W. Bush was sworn into to office, a day I know that he would have been so happy to see. There is a small, protective part of me that has been gratified that he didn't live to see this country attacked again, though I've longed so many times to talk with him about it. Up until the last few weeks, I've often thought that he was wrong about an event that would pull this country together. I still have hope that he was wrong.....

I will work to re-elect this President. It's all I can do....

Yup, shoot 'em right in the pocketbook. Your essay brings back memories of the days I didn't have Fox (because the local cable company wouldn't carry them).

CNN does exactly as you describe, cutting away, editing, distorting, spinning to present ONLY the leftist perspective.

Better off to not watch tv at all if no Fox and get news off the internet.

We kicked quite a lot of butt in Karbala today, I saw that on the tv. Funny, the war efforts themselves are so diminished by the prisoner story and now the execution that what once got a lot of coverage gets just a little time.

It was live on Fox with their embedded reporter. I doubt CNN even covered it except to mention (in outrage of course!) that we leveled a mosque.
