At least they're doing it of their own free will. The business consequences (good or bad) will be of their own making.
That's the way it should be.
I don't like the fumes that smoker spew out, so I would support them in this (if I liked the food).

You two hit it on the head. Their ban isn't going to stop me, a reformed smoker, from going to their restaurant.
I never liked smoking (mine or others) when I was eating anyways.

A local Applebee's used to play classic rock background music at night. They were full in the bar which would become rowdy at times and kept food customers away.
They switched to country top 40 format and brought back the food customers but lost a majority of their bar customers.
It will be interesting to find out how they fare with the smoking ban.

My thoughts exactly. Having to inhale others' smoky lung excrement while eating is repulsive. But, having the government impose a smoking ban is worse. This is the company making the decision, not the local government.
But, I have never cared for their food.

Private property, private decisions. As it should be.

Just ate at an Applebee's in Federal Way, WA. It was non-smoking. It was packed with a short wait. I waited, then enjoyed my meal.
