C-Span2 was covering yesterday's MMM ralley, this morning.
Turnout was pathetic, speakers were typical.
Jesse Jackson took the stage to close out the presentation and to begin the march.
He told the crowd that just last week we had intercepted 7500 AK47s off the coast of Vermont.
Fascinating...

Wonder if it's the same AK47's, as part of a licensed import, that were intercepted in Italy and finally released for shipment to the US.

And to think, when I lived in Western Mass I always drove to the Cape or NH to go to the beach. Could've just gone to the Vermont coast.

Gee, just checked. Vermont does not have ANY coastline! Guess Jesse was busy two timing his wife and couldn't get his facts straight! Wait a minute, facts/liberal demoRat=matter/antimatter, they can't exist together.

we had intercepted 7500 AK47s
Interesting.....
IF JJ is telling the truth AND they were really AK-47's, then they would not be legal for importation and civilian sale with or without the so called "assault weapon" ban. Fully automatic firearms have been, and will continue to be, illegal. (Since - I thought it was - 1989, but I was corrected by a fellow freeper who says it was 1987).
We have allowed them to create a "boogie man" then falsely associate non associated firearms with their "boogie man".
If they were not really AK-47's (as I suspect), then the feared "AK 47's" were nothing more than "scary looking" normal, semi-automatic rifles.

I can't understand a word Jesse says anyway. He needs to take some diction classes.

Well, unless you count Lake Champlain, which is referred to as "New England's West Coast". Years ago Vermont almost got some ocean front property though; the Massachusetts islands of Martha's Vineyard (you know, where Teddy put the Rose-mobile in the drink) and Nantucket were considering seceding from the state and possibly joining up with Vermont.

Jesse says we intercepted 7500 AK47s off the coast of Vermont - which has no coast. And Maxine Waters is looking for that US flag on Mars....
Yo, black Americans. Listen up bros - find some new, ahem, 'leaders' with a brain.

>>off the coast of Vermont.
maybe he meant Virginia...? got the initial letter right
at least.
Unless he was referring to Lake Champlain which does go up (barely) into Canada...could it be someone was smuggling guns from Quebec into the US THAT way?
Waiting for the Beach Boys to do a song about surfing in
Burlington or St. Albans :) (insert Dean scream here)

Italian customs had siezed 7500 AK47s that were being shipped from Romania to the US - and were later released when it was shown that the transaction was perfectly legal.
The surplus weapons are recieved in a bonded warehouse, disassembled for parts, the receivers destroyed, and the parts shipped to a US factory to be mated up with US-manufactured semi-only receivers.
All perfectly legal.
The company that was doing so was even based in Vermont.
It's no surprise, of course, that Jesse Jackson would misunderstand the transaction, nor that he would try to use it for political gain.
But that he would be so confused as to believe that the siezure happened off the coast of Vermont...

"And Maxine Waters is looking for that US flag on Mars...." It was Sheila Jackson-Lee (Houston) who said that while on a tour of NASA facilities at Houston ( Clearlake).
