[history]
Steven Stegall says he isn't quite sure he knows what a "metrosexual" is, although he's pretty sure he isn't one. Mr. Stegall, a 29-year-old teacher from Weatherford, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, says he knows of some men who might fit into the category, but he and his friends "don't associate with them."

I think we need to start a new movement of RETROSEXUAL MALES.
Lets go back to the way our fathers and grandfathers did it.

I think from 9-11 forward, the masculine man came roaring back into "fashion". Hmmmm, isn't James Bond a metrosexual? (Based on the impeccable grooming and adept sense of style and culture).
I think they need to differentiate between a limp-wristed man wannabe and a masculine guy who wants to look debonair and several degrees above Zinjathropus. The term metrosexual encompasses too many subtle facets, ranging from 1 degree from gay to a bloke in a bespoke suit, Bruno Magli shoes, perpetually well-trimmed hair, finger-nails that don't have manure and dirt in them, a Rado ceramic watch, and the scent of Bulgari-Black (ahem ahem).
All guys who dress and groom well do not necessarily fit in with the gay crowd, and there is nothing like getting your @r$e kicked by an expensive shoe.

I prefer James Bond to some smarmy liberal asshat from the city.

No, a metrosexual is a guy who gets facials, has his back waxed, has manicures and pedicures complete with clear (I assume)nail polish and spends exhorbidant amounts of money on facial care products.
There is nothing metrosexual about someone being debonaire. Just remember, James Bond also looked HOT in levis!

Metrosexuals are wonderful for magazines, since they actually buy the expensive, unnecessary, prissy crap that advertises in most men's magazines (Esquire, for example). I have a freebie subscription to Esquire, and I'm thankful to girly-men for letting me read the articles for free.
It's much the same feeling I have for all the people who buy cheap piss-water beer and doesn't-last-beyond-it's-financing American cars, so I can watch baseball and football for free.

I thought metrosexuals were like Tom Cruise and Rebecca DeMornay on the El in "Risky Business".

By the size of your needless snip-snip, this appears to be more a 1/2 cent. I am fully aware that this is from the Times not the WaPo, but with the copyright crackdown against FR apparently in full force (even the PGH Trib-Review is aboard that train IIRC), I no longer take any chances with posting anything in full.

I forgot to put in the original post last night this thought... has the WT gone mainstream by covering metrosexuality?
