Thanks for the links.

By the way, since I'm retired, I do the shopping and fix dinner on the days that my wife works (three days/week). I know all of the butchers, produce guys, and deli people at our great little local store. When the farmers's market is open and in full season, I know the best tomatoe, corn and fresh produce raising farmers by first name. If I fish during her work days, depending on the season, the meal is prepared ahead of time like in the fall and winter, crockpot soups and stews.

However, on her days off, I often end up as the chauffer and lug that purchase, boy.

This coming Wednesday, we will head for the beach, Bodega Bay, for a day of walking, some fly fishing by me, some salmon/crab buying and some of the best Calamari and Crab Cakes on the coast.

It is a tough life but someone needs to do it! :)

Here's a tidbit I got this morning from Lars Larson. I imagine the full article is on his website www.larslarson.com:

From the Wall Street Journal’s Best of the Web

Vera’s policies on terrorism have madeOregonfamous again

From Madrid to Portland
The FBI has arrested aPortland,Ore., lawyer in connection with the March 11Madridbombings, the New York Times reports.Brandon Mayfield is being held as a"material witness" rather than a suspect, but "officials confirmed Thursday night. . .that Mr.Mayfield's fingerprints matched prints found on a bag in the wreckage of theMadridbombing." Mayfield is an American citizen and Muslim convert.

Why isPortlandapparently such a magnet for jihadis? Last August Maher Hawash pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges. As the Washington Post reported at the time, "In return for his promise to testify against six other Portland-based suspects accused of plotting in 2001 to wage war against theUnited States, federal prosecutors dropped more serious terrorism charges against Hawash."

Could this all have something to do with the Portland City Council's decision in November 2001 to refuse cooperation with federal terror investigations?
