I am sick to death of hearing how abusive this treatment was to these prisoners.

We were treated worse at Boot Camp than these people were.

And every veteran here knows it.

And NONE of us are asking for the president of our time period to apologize to us for it, either!

I may have never had to simulate sex acts with other men, but I did see men ordered to simulate masturbation with a hot dog, seen men cry about having to wet their pants, seen men humiliated over dear john letters in front of the platoon...

And since I was in Parris Island in the late 70's, I went through one of the easiest times Parris Island ever saw.

The 1960's Marine Corps vets and Army Vets are invited to post what happened in their platoons to show America and the world just what abuse is: BOOT CAMP IS ABUSE>

Scaring people who were trying to kill you is not abuse!

Mere words cannot erase these images.

And I dont hear the Arab or Muslim world apologizing to us for these acts, either, I hear them rejoicing over it!

Parris Island has to win hands down! My son graduated Parris Island, I was happy to see him alive and standing on the parade ground.

The pre-basic physical was, without a doubt, a very traumatic time. I was forced to stand in a line of about 50 naked guys, while the doctor poked, prodded, and made us caugh.

"Bend over and spread your cheeks" was the command.

"Small b**ls, this man has small b**ls", one doc shouted, when examining one of the 17 year olds.

I was fortunate, but still embarrassed. I was 20 at the time, and had seen a good portion of the world.

Some of the kids just broke down and cried.

One failed because he had big boobs. He was led out of the room crying, too.

That was the medical exam just prior to raising our arms and taking the oath.

Drudge has a link that the pixs we've seen are the tip of the iceberg. Some of the stuff described there is pretty bad. It looks like these guards were scum.

OTOH, I wonder why those Dems (and CBSNBCNYTIMES) weren't calling for the head of Gray Davis when abuses just as bad were found in his state prisons.

" EVERYONE who ever went to boot camp was humiliated more than these people were in Baghdad. And I mean EVERYONE! "

I just have missed Homo Eroticism Day. Or perhaps some don’t consider that as humiliating as others. [smile]

Don't know about the Marines but I had 17 weeks of infantry replacement training in wartime WW II where we learned how to shoot and defend ourselves. GIs were taught how to kill. When we captured the enemy, we never got to taking their clothes off, piling them naked and looking at their c-cks. Participating in these perversions would have been more demoralizing to us than to them.

Boot was as worse. I was a little too ebuillient one night and a nasty female cop played some crappy games with me sorta like that white trash did.

And I pledged a frat...it was worse than that...and I didn't feed anyone into any plastic shredders or beat people with axehandles or rip tongues out or throw people off roofs or kill children in front of their mothers or any of the wonderful things Teddy Kennedy seems to want to absolve these scumbags.

PATHETIC!

I graduated July 3, 73. There were multiple internal investigations for cruelty in my platoon. The Senior "Explained" to us the correct response to any and all questions the investigators would/could possibly ask.

Then, we went back to bends and thrusts until supper time. <|:-)~~

What really offends me, is all this (*^*&%)*&%)(*_*^ apologizing all over the place!

Yeah, the treatment wasn't right, but for Pete's sakes....

"PC" is going to be the death of us all, if we don't get this touchy feely crap under control!

I don't quite know how to say this but I was never at Parris Island and I may have never faced anything like this. I am an U. S. Air Force veteran and other things were done to us to accomplish what ever was needed by the Sergaents that turned you into a Marine and me into an Airman. I know I was in an unappreciated field of endeaveor but you and I are Brothers who served the most wonderful country on Gods earth. These whining socialist driven liberals can go to !#$$ about this abuse subject. If those poor abused prisoners would have had our guys prisoners, you could only imagine the abuses they would have done to them. God Bless you and all the rest of us who served the United States of America one nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all. May God watch over our younger brothers and sisters who are taking care of things now.

We do worse to our own convicts...much worse.

The Feds will do naked boxcar on yer ass quick if you seriously misbehave.

This is a joke....we don't have the will to prevail politically.

The world is laughing at us.

I went through Paris Island in the very early 50s. Not only were people humiliated, but that place could be down right dangerous. Ever heard of Ribbon Creek? Well, I survived and am a better man for it.

On DU (yes, I admit I go there sometimes) there are threads saying that there is a picture of a 16 year old boy being raped by a guard and also that a twelve year-old girl was beaten.

The American people won't stand for kids being abused. If those pictures come to light Bush had better make the heads roll or he is toast.
