What is becoming clear to me, amazingly, is that these pictures/photos/videos were part of a criminal investigation, and that there really was no REAL reason for the SecDef to be looking at them. That was a job for prosecutors and defense lawyers.

Now, in hindsight of course, everyone says it is easy to "connect the dots" and see the stuff should've been submitted to the highest levels of the Pentagon. But hey, since when do prosecutors go around banging on doors in the Pentagon saying, "Oh hey, lookee here, Mr. Rumsfeld, this is what one of our soldiers did..."

Incredible that the press hasn't picked up on this...oh wait, they don't really care about the rights of defendants if they're American military soldiers, do they??

Not only the press but most of our Congress as well. IMHO, it comes down to one simple thought - most of these yokels have no real understanding of the military at all. I bet if some investigative FReeper wanted to look this up, you would find that the loudest critics have at least two common characteristics (and the first one does not count): 1. A Democrat and, 2. Never served in the military.
