Aides: Rumsfeld to Apologize to Congress"
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
WASHINGTON - Amid calls for his resignation, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld drafted an apology Friday for not keeping Congress informed about abuses of Iraqi prisoners in U.S. custody, defense officials said.

FReepers, since apologizing seems to be the order of the day, let's show 'em how we "apologize!" Let me begin with my own profuse apologies to the entire nation:
I'm sorry we ever had a president who's version of the truth was to say, "It depends on what the meaning of the word IS, is."
As a Californian, I sorry for this pathetic bunch of Dems in my state's congressional delegation: Baca; Becerra; Berman; Boxer; Capps; Cardoza; Davis; Dooley; Eshoo; Farr; Feinstein; Filner; Harman; Honda; Lantos; Lee; Lofgren; Matsui; Millender-McDonald; Miller, George; Napolitano; Pelosi; Roybal-Allard; Sanchez, Linda; Sanchez, Loretta; Schiff; Sherman; Solis; Stark; Tauscher; Thompson; Waters; Watson; Waxman; Woolsey.
I'm so sorry people like Barbara Streisand, Michael Moore, Jane Fonda and any other members of the Hollyweird limousine-liberal crowd breath air.
I'm deeply sorry that the voters of Massachusettes keep sending Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy to the U.S. Senate.

You know what this thread reminds me of? The threads that are at DU. Isn't it pathetic?

But reducing the morality quotient of France (not by much, though)Hard to believe that's possible. It's a bit like worsening their personal hygeine; how can you wash less frequently than never?

I think I understand where you are coming from. Don't take this thread seriously..think of it as a safety-valve.. sometimes people have to let off steam so the anger etc won't build up.
I can't even THINK of comparing this place to DU. Oh my gosh, it's like night and day.

I'm sorry that I'm too old to enlist and take my trusty rifle with me to split your skulls with hollow points. I'm sorry that I can't travel to the confines of your prisons and gut you with a Bowie knife and laugh while you die. I'm sorry that this country has begun the slow dance of hand-wringing that presupposes destructive behavior. I'm sorry that we don't call this war what it is--a fight for the survival of western civilization and that our mission should be to wipe the Moslem scum from the earth. You can put your sorries in a sack....

Dixie Sass: Kim4VRWC's is right. Sardonic humor is an ancient and very important part of human expression. See my posts #122 and #157 to HairOfTheDog. They were serious attempts to explain the point of this thread. I understand yours and HOTD's point of view. Under most circumstances, I would agree with it. But in this case, the incredible hypocrisy of the Dem/Left and their media shills is just begging to be skewered. Doing so in no way diminished the seriousness of the prisoner abuse story.
What is being mocked here is not the prisoner abuse story, but the rancid political theater that the Dem/Left and the media are making of it for their own partisan purposes.

In the column posted on
this thread, Jonah Goldberg makes the same point this thread does. The only difference is that this thread uses mockery and sardonic humor to make the point while Jonah uses the more serious language of a columnist.

I hear you.
But I see this as more of a "venting" thread than much else.
Still, the "frat pranks" comments and anything else excusing those few soldiers' perverted actions are disgusting. I had hoped FReepers would know better.

I'm sorry that my representatives to Washington are Schmucky Schumer, Booba and Jerry "The MOAB" Nadler.
I'm sorry President Bush is still pretending that radical Islam is just a small portion of that religion and hasn't infested the majority of it.
I'm sorry that arafart is still alive.
I'm sorry that miscreants and lowlifes such as Teddy Kennedy and Sheets Byrd got to hector Rumsfeld today.
