By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
WASHINGTON - Amid calls for his resignation, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld drafted an apology Friday for not keeping Congress informed about abuses of Iraqi prisoners in U.S. custody, defense officials said.

FReepers, since apologizing seems to be the order of the day, let's show 'em how we "apologize!" Let me begin with my own profuse apologies to the entire nation:
I'm sorry we ever had a president who's version of the truth was to say, "It depends on what the meaning of the word IS, is."
As a Californian, I sorry for this pathetic bunch of Dems in my state's congressional delegation: Baca; Becerra; Berman; Boxer; Capps; Cardoza; Davis; Dooley; Eshoo; Farr; Feinstein; Filner; Harman; Honda; Lantos; Lee; Lofgren; Matsui; Millender-McDonald; Miller, George; Napolitano; Pelosi; Roybal-Allard; Sanchez, Linda; Sanchez, Loretta; Schiff; Sherman; Solis; Stark; Tauscher; Thompson; Waters; Watson; Waxman; Woolsey.
I'm so sorry people like Barbara Streisand, Michael Moore, Jane Fonda and any other members of the Hollyweird limousine-liberal crowd breath air.
I'm deeply sorry that the voters of Massachusettes keep sending Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy to the U.S. Senate.
No one is "stealing" any dignity. You entirely miss the point, which is that the media have been pounding President Bush to apologize for something anything well before the prison abuse story broke. So now they have something, and they are blowing it up way out of proportion to the entire effort in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the meantime, the media are all but ignoring what might well be the most massive scandal in modern history: the UN oil-for-food scam.
Whether or not you get it, most of the media are doing this for one reason and one reason only: politics.
Is the abuse of Iraqi prisoners wrong. Of course. I don't know anyone who's arguing otherwise. But there are other wrongs vastly worse, frankly that the media doesn't give a flying "eff" about. This thread is a way to point out media and Dem hypocrisy. No less than Sen. Joe Lieberman was on TV this morning saying pretty much the same thing in his own more diplomatic words, of course.

As a Californian, I second that apology.
While I'm at it, a few more:
I'm sorry most Democrats are really Marxists at heart.
I'm sorry for the pathetic state of TV news these days.
I'm sorry Michael Jackson wasn't due in court today, because the pack of media lemmings would have given more coverage to that than Rummy's appearance on Capitol Hill.
I'm sorry the so-called mainstream media has little (if any) interest in the massive UN Iraq oil-for-food scandal.
Ouch!
LOL! Well, you should be sorry for that. (Thanks for the hearty laugh.)
"I want to apologize in advance for any pain I might inflict, wrong decisions I might make, damage or loss of property I might cause, responsibilities I might shirk, lapses in judgement I might demonstrate, injuries and deaths for which I might be directly or indirectly responsible, and any other miscreant behavior I might engage in as I serve the people."
I had to live through the 70's with Carter and it was your fault???
Man, when the karma catches up with you I don't want to be anywhere nearby!
Glad to. Since Democrat voters are too stupid to realize what's going on, we have an even bigger job to do.
