Although I think this is overblown and these hearings should not be held, we would NOT want our soldiers or kidnapped civilians to be treated this way.

We know they are, and worse, but that doesn't mean we should lower ourselves to their level.

This is the kind of sentiment I am hearing all over FR since this scandal began. I have never disagreed with my fellow FReepers as much as I have in the past few days.

It was the attitude of the Germans as WWII began, toward the Jews. I wouldn't treat my DOG like that, but to JEWS, it's OK. Why on earth do Muslims deserve bad treatment? Now, if you are talking about criminals or terrorsists, that's one thing. But you think it's OK to be cruel to Muslims. Slippery slope, my man.

The fact that they did it, rather than being killed (which presumably is the threat that was used to get them to do it) suggests that they disagree with you that it would be worse than death for them.

I am sure, however, that they consider it worse than dying on the battlefield (which gets them their virgins in paradise).

Regardless of the deterring effect, Americans should not act like this because it is wrong. It is repulsive. We can adhere to a higher standard of behavior, because we have shown that we have the strength to and because by having a higher standard we have developed the strength to.

"Forcing them to engage in sexual conduct" is the same as rape. Give the perps a fair trial and a fast public hanging. They are disgrace to the uniform, the flag, and the human race.
